Please Keep These Matters in your Prayers: - The church has traditionally called this “Holy Week.” We remember the death and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Pray that this story will be relayed in many places in ways that are respectful and compelling.

- Pray for those affected by the opioid crisis – those who use the drug and have overdosed, their families and first responders.

- Bobby Scholte remains in hospital. Melinda Vliegenthart (a woman probably known to many but not all of us) is also in the hospital; pray for her physical and emotional well-being.

- We continue the work of discerning who God is calling to serve as elder and deacon. Pray that we all can be attentive to his leading.

Spilled Ink A central call of the entire Bible is nothing less than joining Jesus in his death so that we can join him in his resurrection. Throughout this season of Lent and now in this final week, we are invited to join Jesus on the road to Jerusalem. Though we have followed Luke’s account to this point, Gospel writer Mark has gone out of his way to chronicle Jesus’ last week on a day-by-day basis. Here are suggested starting points for reading this week: Sunday: “When they were approaching Jerusalem.” (11:1) Monday: “On the following day” (11:12) Tuesday: “In the morning” (11:20) Wednesday: “It was two days before the Passover” (14:1) Thursday: “On the first day of Unleavened Bread” (14:12) Friday: “As soon as it was morning” (15:1) Saturday: “The Sabbath” (15:42, 16:1) Sunday: “Very early on the first day of the week” (16:2) Read this believing that that God uses this story to change us. By faith, we are drawn more deeply into the life, the death and the new life of Jesus.

5100 Tebo Road.

Sunday: 10:30am ~ Easter celebration!

Wednesday Youth Bible Study: We are reading through the book of Genesis; families with youth are encouraged to read a few stories or the whole book together.

Profession of Faith

On Easter Sunday, April 16, Kevin Dykstra will publicly accept the promises made to him in his baptism; he will profess his faith. We are delighted to welcome Kevin to all the privileges and responsibilities of full membership in the church.

Another profession of faith class will start soon; an initial meeting will be held on Sunday, April 23 after church; lunch will be provided.

David and Michell Colyn are quickly coming to the end of their pregnancy and

beginning the next step of parenthood. As a church community we would like to

support them in any way that is necessary. The immediate way that YOU can

contribute would be to bring a meal. There are 2 ways you can get on the

dinner list;

a) go online to https://mealtrain.com/dm3ewl and slot your name in or

b) call Robin Knudsen at 250-730-2121 and she can do it for you.

As time goes on David and Michell will be able to give us a better idea of their

needs and we will pass it on to you. Thanks in advance for your support, gift

of time and energy, and especially continued prayers.

Grocery Receipts: Thank-you for your continued donations! We are currently donating our receipts to the Catholic School. We are collecting QF, Save On, and BuyLow receipts. Unfortunately, we no longer are saving the Campbell soup labels. You can give them to Erin Keizer.

Sally Barlow has asked me to ask if anyone in our congregation would be willing to volunteer for the Read and Feed Programme in the elementary schools. It is very easy to do and takes only an hour a week. I volunteer Thursday at Alberni Elementary. It is such a worthwhile programme, today we fed about 75 children and I know many come with no breakfast. Please think about it and contact me, Anne Breuker at 250 730 5328 if you have an hour a week to spare.
