Welcome to a Maryland farm! This is the place where farmers grow the food we eat before it goes to the grocery store or farmers' market. Whether your favorite food

is pizza, watermelon, corn on the cob or ice cream, it probably came from a

Maryland farm.

Did you know that many of the things we use at home and at school — like toothpaste, ink,

and crayons — are made from Maryland farm products?

There’s so much to see and do on the farm. Here are some exciting games and activities to help you learn more about agriculture in Maryland.

I can make up to 7 gallons of milk a day. I am black and white, but my cousins

come in other colors, too. I spend most of my time chewing grass and hay.

Who am I?

I am a bird, but I cannot fly very well. I have feathers and a beak and can lay eggs. I like to peck and scratch. You may have met my husband. He wakes the farmer early in the morning. Who am I?

I have small eyes, a short snout and a curly tail. I like to roll in the mud to keep cool. The meat that

you get from me is called pork. Who am I?

I like to run fast and I am fun to ride. Some of my friends even race. Long ago, my kind did heavy farm work like pulling wagons and plows. Now tractors do that, while I graze in the pasture. Who am I?

Wheat is grown for food by people all over the world. Cereal, spaghetti, cookies, and lots of other tasty foods are made from wheat.

Famers grow corn to feed animals and people, but many things are made from corn, including chewing gum, toothpaste and firecrackers.
