Secular ShortcomingBy Warren Krige

Why do secular rehabs come short in having success?

Welcome!

Re.late verb \. 1.To tell; give an account of. 2. To bring into or establish an associa-

tion or connection.

For our sixth installment of Re-Late we

went to the far reaches of the earth

to bring you the best content, infor-

mation and news. Suffice it to say, the

result is nothing short of spectacular.

That being said, we would appreciate

Lately it has become more and more evident to me that people have either a very low level of expectations or simply no vision (revelation) at all. This is very dangerous as the Word of God says “where there is no vision (redemptive revelation of God) the people perish. Redemptive revelation always works hand in hand with grat-

itude, praise and worship. How can we not be eternally grateful for what Jesus has done for us on the Cross? Hebrews 13:15 says “ Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacri-fice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. The fruit of our lips (words we speak are spiritual) and now they have to

reflect in the fruit of our deeds enter His gate with thanksgiving and His gates with praise.

This will release the power of the true God in our lives- it creates the atmo-sphere of growth, joy and peace.

Be blessed.

Luke 6:35

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.”

Because the Spirit of God indwells us, our acts towards all we get in contact

with, should portray the same kind-ness, even to our enemies.

During the past month, the opposite spirit was sadly very visible amongst the students, with very little love and kindness towards one another, but rather mocking, vindictiveness etc.

As we are known by our fruit, of which kindness is one, we should examine

and judge ourselves, rather than be judged by God for not showing Jesus to those around us.

Furthermore, if we just look at the kindness we receive from Him daily, undeservedly, it is just fitting that we pass it on to all those we touch daily.

Thomas Claudi

In a society that celebrates wealth as the epitome of success, we can often be deluded into thinking there is a direct correspondence be-tween success and a massive amount of funds, when in fact money, in whichever form, is merely a by-product of success, one of many in fact.

Conventional wisdom leads us to think of a glamorous CV or Resume as a reflection of a person’s value and self-worth, that the ever elu-sive chase for the perfect personal portfolio is where freedom is at. Today I would like to challenge that believe, I would like to instil within you the desire to re-evaluate once again your own yard-stick for self-worth and I would like to share with you a story that inspired me. A story of how rejection could lead to greatness, and about doing what’s necessary.

Success often appears to fall into people’s laps, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Many of the most accomplished individuals in history experienced significant hurdles prior to making it to the top. Asia’s richest man, Jack Ma, once struggled to get hired at Kentucky Fried Chicken, for example. Indeed, the founder of Alibaba Group and native of China is no stranger to rejection. Before KFC, he also failed his college entrance exam, and was turned down by the local police department when he came looking for a job.

Ma remained determined, however, and decided that he needed to better himself in order to achieve his goals. He’d always desired to learn English, and often cycled 45-minutes to the closest hotel to practice speaking it with foreigners. Eventually, he began giving free tours to English-speaking foreigners around his city, and became flu-ent enough to teach it in local schools.

Ma’s persistence and drive ultimately paid off. He landed a job as a translator in 1995, which led him to travel to the United States. While in America, Ma became enamoured of the possibilities of the Internet. This is what inspired him to found Alibaba, and the rest is history. He might be worth $22.6 billion now, but Ma never would’ve gotten to where he is had he not been persistent.

He went from being a poor English teacher to becoming a globally respected billionaire. He faced unemployment, consistent rejection and poverty, but was still willing to make the effort to hone the skills he needed to get ahead. He is a testament to the fact that monetary rewards shouldn’t be a person’s only inspiration to put the work in.

This shouldn’t be one’s gauge for achievement.

As Benjamin Von Wong, one of my favourite celebrated photogra-phers, responded when asked how he got such great teams together, teams who were all prepared to work for nothing he said that “people only chase money so that they could afford to do the actual things they love doing, so if you get those who love what they do, they stop chasing the money.”

My version of success?

Do what you love and surround yourself with people you love.

That’s it.

28 Junie 2014 stap ek die padjie af na TLC toe saam met

twee prefekte. Stukkend en gebroke mens met geen insig

vir die toekoms nie. Ek het almal wat ek geken het besteel

en belieg, ek was n regte rubbish! 31 Julie 2014 le ek in sol-

itary en besluit my hart behoort aan die Here. Die pad wat

ek begin stap het saam met XF en die Here het oneindig

baie dinge in my lewee laat verander. Die geselsies wat ek

begin aanknoop het met die Here het my laat besef hoe

groot onds God werklik is. God het my in my swakste tyd

van my lewe op getel aan my hand en gese ek het weet n

werk en al my famielie het my weer lief. Dankie aan die

Krige famielie en God dat daar weer ‘n kans vir my is om

voorentoe te kan beweeg. Dankie aan my liefste famiel-

ie dat julle nie in my getwyfel het nie vir julle almal het ek

baie lief.

My Belief system was a lie, I felt empty and lived in fear. All

my relationships were broken. Gal 5:19,20 is my past, and

through the help of the Holy Spirit indwelling in me, I now

have self-discipline.

I ended up in hospital, close to death, running for my life

and losing my mind. I had fear of my children’s safety that I

left behind. I sat on the hospital bed and cried out to God,

my only hope. I have learnt what love is, God is love. I can

deal with trails and tribulations through Christ who gives

me the ability of living as a new creation; He died on the

cross for me. I am experiencing inner peace that only God,

my father can give me.

John 14:27 I am saved and grateful for God’s grace. My

children are safe, I am grateful for my family and loved

ones, and all the support and love from my sponsors uncle

Tom and aunt Yvonne. Prov 3:6
