Kid’s Kingdom

If you have ever peeked into Kid’s Kingdom and saw children playing with games, you may have mistakenly thought that all we do is play and babysit. Please give us the opportunity to share with you what we really do in Kid’s Kingdom.

We begin our time with games, puzzles, or craft centers. These centers begin when the first

child arrives. This gives our children a time to fellowship with one another as well as our help-

ers and teachers. Just like when you arrive and leave church you enjoy meeting and greeting

your friends, this builds those relationships with the children. When visitors arrive we invite

them in and pair them with children their age. We hope when our children reach adulthood

they will have learned how to be hospitable and greet others with a warm welcome.

A few minutes after 9:00 we put away the games and we begin worship. Just like the adults

the goal is to be reverent and worship God in a way that is pleasing in His sight. We sing songs

of praise, geared toward children and teens. These songs are interactive and teach, such as

the Books of The Bible and many of the songs the teenagers sing in youth group.

Included in the worship are an opening prayer and a closing prayer. The Lord’s Supper is of-

fered to baptized Christians each Sunday. The children are taught each Sunday the importance

of the why we take the Lord’s Supper and to be respectful when others are taking the Lord’s

Supper. We also have an offering. The offering goes toward supporting Dennis Lobo; who is a

child in Honduras that Kids Kingdom specifically sponsors through Compassion International.

The children bring in their offering each week. They have a picture of Dennis and they pray for

him on a regular basis. Many times we discuss how in church our offering covers many things,

but in Kid’s Kingdom it helps Dennis and his family. The children are shown pictures of Hondu-

ras and are very familiar with the living conditions and how we can all help others.

We currently have a four year curriculum that covers 2 years of Old Testament and 2 Years of

New Testament. The children are taught a lesson each week from the Bible. They are also en-

couraged to learn a memory verse at home and know it by the following week. Learning and

loving God’s word is our top priority. We often have object lessons and activities that go along

with the lesson to enhance and encourage the children to remember the importance of what

they learned. To back up our regular lesson, we have a cast of Royal Puppets that give us a

moral lesson each week; this is a favorite among the children. After we conclude our worship

time, if the worship service in the auditorium is still in progress, we may have a little time to

fellowship again or a favorite of the kids is to sing VBS songs.

As you can see Kid’s Kingdom is a busy place where learning God’s word and how to worship is

brought to a child’s level. We are blessed to have five rotating teams that help with this won-

derful ministry. Many thanks are extended to our teenage helpers who are way too many to

name. We have been blessed with the following Kid’s Kingdom Leaders; Jaroch, Chase, McDan-

iel, Baldock, Bonk, Haskins, Berry, Nizol, Lake, Stewart, Williams, and Whelan. If you love chil-

dren and would like to assist in this great ministry, please feel free to let us know. We would

love to make you a part of the team. If you ever have any questions please feel free to ask us;

we love the children at Northwest and our desire is to assist the parents in encouraging faith at

home.
