I am indeed honoured to act as Group President for 2018-19. I very much look forward to the year ahead and representing you, our HSE members. The event will take place on Thursday and Friday, October 11-12, at the Midlands Park Hotel. I am delighted to present a slightly different format this year, similar to our 2016 seminar, where we introduced a series of workshops on the Friday. Thursday’s programme will be similar to previous years, with clinical presentations on various relevant topics such as orthodontics, special care dentistry, SOEL health, trauma and much more. I am especially delighted to welcome Dr Joe Green, National Oral Health Lead, HSE, to open the seminar. A full trade show will also take place on Thursday. Friday will see a slightly different format. The morning will include two very worthwhile presentations from Dr Eleanor McGovern and Dr Susan Parekh. This will be followed by a series of four practical tutorials with demonstrations to smaller audiences. Every delegate will have the chance to complete all four tutorials throughout the day: oral radiology; infection control; medical emergencies; and, paediatric treatment planning. All members of the dental team are welcome to attend our event. By no means is it exclusively for those employed by the HSE: GPs and specialists are also welcome to attend. Finally, our Seminar social evening takes place on Thursday evening in a nearby restaurant. We look forward to a casual social evening with all welcome to attend. I look forward to seeing you in Portlaoise in October.
