Managing seasons of activity

• Jan to Apr – CCA season (National Schools Games, SYF, competitions)

• Keeping up with current school work and staying on top of homework load

• Being present and attentive in class

• Post-CCA stand down – managing revision programme

• Coursework subjects – aim to finish by end June or latest mid-July

Alternative Admission Process

For JC1 and Equivalent Level

● Direct School Admission (DSA–JC)● For students who demonstrate a more diverse

range of achievements and talents in seeking admission at Pre-U level.

● Conducted prior to the annual Joint Admission Exercise (JAE). Students admitted under DSA–JC need not take part in the JAE as long as they meet the criteria for admission for a JC


EAE – Early Admission Exercise

● Details will be put up on the Polytechnics websites end May

● Aptitude-based admission exercise

● Shows ability and interest in desired programme

● Advanced Elective Module (AEM) can help

● Students are offered ‘conditional offers’ to Polytechnics

● Students still have to meet the MER of 26 points.


Junior College

Entry Requirement:

a) L1R5 ≤ 20 points

L1 - English or Higher Mother Tongue

R1 - A Science or Mathematics Subject

R2 - A Humanities Subject

R3 - A Science or Mathematics or Humanities Subject

R4 & R5 - Any other 2 Subjects

(CCA grades cannot be counted as a subject).


Junior College

Entry Requirement:

b) at least a D7 for Mother Tongue [or at least a pass in

CLB/MLB/TLB] AND a Mathematics Subject,

c) Failed to obtain the requisite language and/or Math grades

but with L1R5 ≤ 15, student will be provisionally admitted but

he will need to re-sit and must clear the relevant subjects in

the following year’s GCE O-level.


PolytechnicEntry Requirement:

Must obtain 26 points or better for the net ELR2B2

aggregate score (i.e. English Language, 2 relevant

subjects and best 2 other subjects, including CCA Bonus

Points) and meet the minimum entry requirement of the

course.


The level of attainment will be converted to a bonus point(s)

which can be used for admission to (JC/Poly/ITE):

Minimum Level 3 in all four domains with at least a Level 4 in one domain.

Good

(1 bonus point)

Minimum Level 1 in all four domains with any one of the following:

i. At least Level 2 in three domains;

ii. At least Level 2 in one domain and at least Level 3 in another domain;

or

iii. At least Level 4 in one domain.
