Imelda- I work with Blossom Ireland planning things and thinking of ways to help young people with a disability to be able to do the things they want.
• What do I miss at the moment?
• Something I am working on:
• What am I doing while I am at home?
Ellie:
I am an occupational therapist. I work at the Down Syndrome Centre, I help young people set goals and learn how to achieve them, so they can be as independent as possible.

Finding your choices
• Some things we can’t choose at the moment – like not going out
• We always have some choices though make sure you find them
Choices
• It is very important that we have some choices
• People telling us what to do all the time can make us feel like we have no control
• You need to use your voice or pictures or sign to let people know what you want
How can you replace things?
• Lets think……
• A meet up with a friend
• Going to Eddie Rockets with friends
• Swimming
Meeting Friends

• Chat with friends over a video call, phone or text
• Have some favourite food and a chat with a friend
• Organise a game with friends online by video
• Play sports in a new way
• Do a class online
How can Blossom help?
Blossom can send you lots of pictures by email so you can make your own activity boards and plan your own day.
Find what works for you
• You don’t have to have a schedule for home.
• It can help you to plan your day after the corona Virus is gone though.
• Schedules can change and that is ok.
Moving Keeps you Healthy!
• Your brain needs movement to help you learn and concentrate
• Every hour while you are awake make sure you do some movement
• Have a mix between lots of energy or something small
Big Movement Breaks
Small Movement Breaks
When did you get moving and when did you have a break usually?
• Do some school work in your day

If you’re feeling too fast, try

• What makes your body too fast?
• What might help you feel just right?
Times to relax – a few times a day
• The more relaxation times we put into our day the better we can cope with things
• It helps us to not get so angry or upset
• Ellie will talk about how to keep yourself feeling in control
Making Time to Relax
Asking for help
• We all need help to do the things we would like to do
1. Choose something you would like to do
2. Ask a family member to help us get the items or set things up
3. You can ask using pictures or words or by using pointing or gestures
First choose and then ask for help if you need it

Ask for help if needed
We all need help from others sometimes!
Thank you for listening!
