My dear Fellow Alumni,

It is with great joy that we celebrate as ONE SAGRADO FAMILY the 99th Foundation Anniversary of our beloved Alma Mater. As we anticipate SAGRADO’s Centennial Year Celebration on September 2017, (please mark this RED in your respective calendars!) let us solidly put our minds, hearts and hands together as we strive to live out our Centennial celebration theme: “The Boldness of Charity For a Century-Great Sagrado.” It

challenges us to reflect on the quality of our own lives as shared with others in countless ways of quiet, selfless service and commitment, the Vincentian Way. This provides us many varied opportunities to look back and thank God for the rich legacy of Charity passed on to us by the pioneer Daughters of Charity, lay administrators, faculty and alumni – they who, with sheer audacity and boldness, saw Christ and served Him in the marginalized poor of society. By “not counting the cost,” they truly made a difference. We, too in our own time, and in our own little way, as SAGRADISTAS, can spell a difference in today’s world.

Fellow Sagradistas, let us boldly “fill the world with love” wherever we are, and be counted among the world’s “unsung heroes and heroines” of Charity. Let us truly MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

HAPPY HOMECOMING, everyone! CONGRATULATIONS to all our Jubilarians! We love you all dearly in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary! Hasta la vista el año que viene!

In our Founders Sts. Vincent and Louise,

ASSOCIATION

EXCERPTS OF THE BYLAWS. Membership in Art. V Sec.

1 “All persons who have been in attendance as students of CSCJ may become members of the Association.”

2. Sec. 4 “Duties & Responsibilities of Members. – A member shall have the following duties & responsibilities:

a. To pay membership fees, dues and other assessments of the association.”

3. Sec. 5. “Classification of Members and Membership Fees – The Board of Directors shall determine the classification of members as well as the amount and mode of payment of membership fees payable at the beginning of every fiscal year.”

Rationale:1. Our current practice is that

we do not collect annual dues from members, only registration fees during the alumni homecoming

2. That generally its only the jubilarians who attend the homecoming

Rationale: 1. Upon graduation the school

assess the graduate an alumni fee which is minimal & covers the cost in maintaining a graduate registry. This is understandably not remitted to the AA. Let us not disturb this practice.

2. The school practice, for emphasis, applies only to graduating students but not to those who studied but did not graduate in Sagrado.

Annual Dues

MEMBERSHIP FEE

3. That the registration fees just barely cover the cost of the homecoming

4. That the Alumni Association has no source of income to maintain its operations (e.g. salary of a staff, office supplies etc.)

5. For the past years the operations of the Association is funded by contributions of the members of the Board of Directors and occasionally donations from the Alumni.

6. That most associations imposes an annual fee/dues as a condition or eligibility as a member of good standing

7. That if payment of the annual dues is a criteria for eligibility as a member of good membership, then it should be collected prior to the call for nominations to the Board and not during the homecoming, preferably at the first quarter of the fiscal year.

8. That an Annual Dues of Php 500.00 (@ US $ 10.00 - $12.00, depending on the exchange rate), is a reasonable fee to be imposed

3. Currently there is no updated and complete registry of Alumni and there is a need to continuously upgrade and maintain an Association membership rooster, more so that it is legally required.

4. Our ByLaws provide the assessment of a membership fee which in other organizations is a one time assessment, an admission fee.

5. One who went to school in CSCJ is an alumni but not

9. If we can convince 1000 alumni to pay annually, each year we will have a revenue of Php 500k for our operational expenses. We will be able to hire full time staff & provide adequate support to our members & not merely rely on philanthropy.

10. Historically only 200-300 alumni attend the homecomings. Assuming that only those attending the homecomings will pay the annual dues, the total receipts cannot cover the annual operational expenses.

11. A mechanism for electronic payments should be established in order to make accessible & easy for the members to pay the dues

12. For those who have paid the P10K lifetime membership fee of the previous administration, they shall be exempted from this assessment.

13 That payment of the annual dues qualifies the alumni to be classified as a member of good standing.

14. That only members of good standing may have the right to vote & be voted.

necessarily a member of the Alumni Association

6. The membership fee is envision as an entrance fee to gain membership in the Alumni Association.

7. It is different from the annual dues

8. All members except the perpetual members shall be assess this fee

9. Membership Fee Php 500.00

RATIONALE:1. The generosity of the

Sagradista is beyond measure. Experience shows that each Jubilarian Class usually endeavors to raise funds to help the school, support outreach, initiate projects, fund scholarships and live the Vincentian spirit.

2. These initiatives are encourage but there is a need to coordinate all these in line with a masterplan in the case of infrastructure or physical project and/or align with the vision, mission & goals of the school in the case of programs

3. The creativity, expertise & talents of the alumni should always be considered by the administration to further the sustainability, financial viability & competitiveness/attractiveness of the school.

4. There is a need to set up a fund to finance projects &

Jubilarians Fundprograms either identified by the AA or upon the initiative of other proponents

5. The Jubilarians fund is an avenue where each Class shall be encourage to raise at least Php P10K or @US $225.00 as part of their jubilee celebration, in support of a Class identified project

6. If each Class is composed of 20 members, it will just be an equivalent of P500.00 ( US $11.00) per classmate & if they assess Php 1000.00 each, the fund can reach P20,000.00

7. Although P20K on its own can only fund one activity of a program but pulled together it can propel the sustainability of one.

8. Ideally a viable program may require P50k or ( US $1200.00 ), would not be difficult for a class of 20 to raise, if they have 3 years to prepare for their reunion & if given that ample time they need not take it all from their pockets

but can solicit from friends.9. P50K in 3 years, P5k for

each classmate to raise – they can solicit P1k from 5 friends or $120.00 per alumni ($20.00 from 6 friends)

10. But even assuming a Jubilee Class can only raise P10k, if this is combine with other Batches – this can fund a viable project.

11. Each year we commemorate 10 Jubilarian batches with 3 classes, elementary, high school & college

12. If there are only 10 classmates/ class there will be 30 alumni

13. Here is a potential of 30 classes raising Php 10,000.00 each which amounts to an annual jubilee fund of Php 300,000.00 which will fund the projects identified by the Association.

This then eliminates donor fatique and ensures transparency & accountability of alumni donations.

Alumni Legacy FundRATIONALE:

CSCJAA currently does not have the financial resources to sustain its day to day operations, much less to finance its projects. It relies largely in taxing the members of the board, (which may be a disincentive for some to serve… ), or the occasional generosity of the alumni.

To paraphrase the words of Mrs. Imelda C. Florete, “ we need to ensure the Alumni Association for the hundred years”. We need to have a perpetual “trust” fund that will be the Association resource to sustain herself and pursue her charism.

Thus the Alumni Board envision to raise funds, develop resources, mobilize persons not merely to commemorate the legacy of the school or build monuments but rather to perpetuate its memory in loving service to the present & future generations through the continuance of her mission.

As we look forward to the centennial celebration of Sagrado, our alumni response is motivated with gratitude to the alma mater & to give back & share our talents & blessings that others may too, be given the opportunities to grow in the fullness of their humanity.

Five generations, ten decades, one hundred years seems to be eternity, yet it seems it was only yesterday, as we can recall with nostalgia vividly today, the past.

Remember our joys & challenges as a Class, our victories & pains during PRISAA, our childishness & maturity as Children of Mary, our crushes & friendships at JS Proms, our inspirations & frustrations with our teachers, our pranks & naughtiness as a barkada, our talents & our charm in stage plays, our fortitude & valor in CMT, our sacrifices & triumphs during recitals, our hopes & aspirations during retreats, the medals we reap and honors received, our meekness & marvels of the Holy Eucharist during our first communion, the support of

our benefactors & love of our parents such as in the PTA, the light of our vocation & Marian devotion these & many more that molded us to who we are now and what Sagrado has also became.

These is the legacy that our Alma Mater bequeaths, and the spirituality of our faith, the preferential option for the poor, our love of our Blessed Mother, our invocation of Jesus through Mary.

As a testimony, our Alumni Association envisioned to perpetuate these memories, by way of establishing an Alumni Legacy Fund with the names of the legatees enshrine in a wall plaque and acknowledge in a Centennial Year Book (souvenir program).

In this light we seek the generous support of the Alumni, by way of reaching out to their circle of friends & classmates to raise one (1) unit of the Legacy Fund which is ten thousand pesos (@ US$ 225.00 ).

Various modes of raising the Legacy Fund where suggested among which are: where twenty classmates can contribute P500.00 each (@ US 11.00), in the name of their Class (Grade VI Class 1966) or group of ten can contribute P1000.00 (@ US 22.00) each (ex. Merry Teeners) or a family of 5 may contribute P2000.00 (@ US 44.00) each, a one person can contribute P10,000.00 (@ US 225.00) in the name of her mother or in her own name etc.

We intend to reach out to at least 1000 Sagradistas, who through their benevolence of time & resources can help achieve this goal of ensuring through the Alumni Legacy Fund, the sustainability & financial viability of the Alumni Association, to assist the school in her mission, so that others, may too, live an abundant & meaningful life.

We are happy that we have been receiving pledges and approximately 500 legatees (religious, teachers, families, Classes, groups and

individuals) have shown some promise.Trusting in the most Sacred Heart
