Welcome from the Project Coordinator 2017 was a milestone year for the DARWIN project it saw the adaptation of the DARWIN Resilience Management Guidelines (DRMG) to healthcare and air traffic management (ATM). In the coming weeks, we will be consolidating the results of four pilot evaluation exercises, which we conducted in Italy and Sweden. The pilots put specific Concept Cards to the test in situations such as aircraft crashes, disease outbreaks and collisions at sea. DARWIN has also hosted workshops, expert meetings and webinars, and participated in numerous international conference, such as Resilience Engineering Symposiums (2015, 2017) SRIEE 2017 (Estonia), ESREL 2017 (Slovenia), and IPREDV (Israel). These events have been critical for gathering feedback from experts and end-users to refine our training tools and guidelines. DARWIN undertook collaboration with other EU H2020 and national projects addressing resilience for critical infrastructure with the aim of enhancing the work of all project and fostering synergies. Within the DCoP we now have 155 members from across multiple domains, representing 22 countries. The upcoming DCoP workshop in March is an opportunity to examine the usability of the DRMG and their associated Concept Cards across various domains. For the remainder of the project, producing revised DRMG and supporting their application among end-users, policy makers and crisis managers will be a top priority. We hope that you enjoy this addition of our newsletter and learning more about our project. DARWIN Webinar: Resilience Management – From Theory to Practice: A Practical Adaption of the Concept Cards

On 4 December 2017, the DARWIN project held its latest webinar, ‘Resilience Management – From Theory to Practice: A Practical Adaption of Concept Cards’. Project partners Valentina Cedrini from ENAV S.p.A, Italy, and Giuseppina Mandarino from ISS, Italy, shared their expert knowledge on how specific concept cards developed in DARWIN can be adapted and utilised within the healthcare and ATM sectors. View their joint presentation here.

Read Giuseppina’s blog examining the benefits of the DRMG from a healthcare perspective here. Valentina’s blog discussing how the DRMG can be adapted to ATM is available here.

The IPRED V Conference

At the 5th International Preparedness and Response to Emergencies and Disasters (IPREDV) Conference in Tel Aviv, 14 to 17 January 2018, DARWIN hosted an interactive workshop which discussed recent developments in the project and feedback from resilience experts on the DRMG. Read more about the event here.

Redesigned DARWIN Website DARWIN has redesigned and relaunched our website. On the website you can find information about DARWIN and the latest project developments, details about upcoming DARWIN events, and interviews and blogs from our project partners. Check it out here.

2018. While co-creating a resilient virtual city, the DCoP members will be asked to reflect on the usability of the Concept Cards within their own domain. If you are interested in attending, please click here for more information.

Upcoming Event: DRS-7 Event Under the theme of ‘crisis and disaster resilience – operationalising resilience concepts (DRS-7)’, DARWIN is cooperating with similar H2020 projects to ensure consistency, share knowledge and improve resilience to disasters. DARWIN and its fellow DRS-7 projects will host a final DRS-7 conference in Brussels on 10 April 2018, where they will launch a white paper presenting an overall analysis of the findings of the projects.

Upcoming Event: DCoP Webinar The next DCoP webinar will take place on 22 February 2018 at 14:00 (CET). The webinar, entitled ‘The DARWIN Wiki – What’s in it for me?’ will include a presentation of the DARWIN Wiki by project partner Matthieu Branlat from SINTEF, Norway. The Wiki allows DCoP members to gain access to the DRMG and the associate Concept Cards. To RSVP and for more information, click here.

Upcoming Event: DCoP Workshop The next DCoP workshop will take place in Linköping, Sweden from 6 to 8 March
