With LinkedIn and other online profiles, the “world” is

available and open to discuss a new career opportunity anytime.

You have to figure out a way to “stand out” and not get lost in the crowd.

Career Search is not for the fainthearted.

People do not always call you back or answer your emails, don’t take it personally.

Age does not have to be an issue. Many companies are looking for adult supervision. Make your age work for you as an advantage and not a disadvantage.

Rejection is a reality, no matter how great your mother thinks you are.

What do you want to do, what is your ideal position? Is it realistic?

What is your value add to a future company? What makes you unique? Are you ready to tell your “story?”

Is your resume up to date? Is it written to capture the kind of position you have identified? Is it an authentic representation of your credentials and experience? Is it an Evidenced-Based Resume?

Is your LinkedIn Profile aligned with your resume?

Have you had your resume reviewed by a professional or third party to ensure it is ready for your career search?

Ensure your resume and online profiles are in alignment – they should tell the same story.

The resume should capture the reader’s attention within 10 seconds. Most executives spend no more than 40 seconds reading a resume.

The top fold of your resume should grab attention by describing your accomplishments; you are selling you and not the companies where you have worked.

Recruiters usually just read the summary on the LI profile to determine initial interest. It must be powerful and captivating.
