The City of Maplewood is centrally located in mid-St. Louis County. It is bordered by the City of St. Louis to the east, Webster Groves to the south, Brentwood to the west and Richmond Heights to the north. Maplewood has direct links to I-64 and I-44, providing easy access to the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County. The major thoroughfares of Hanley Road/Laclede Station Road and Big Bend Boulevard intersect Manchester Avenue within Maplewood. Maplewood is only a 5-minute drive to Clayton, a 10-minute drive to downtown St. Louis and 15 minutes from Lambert International Airport.
Maplewood, located close to Brentwood and Clayton, is one of the area’s busiest boutique and antique shopping destinations. Maplewood’s unique retailers are sandwiched among a variety of restaurants and coffee houses. The neighborhood also offers the vintage Saratoga Lanes – the oldest bowling alley west of the Mississippi River, and tours of the Schlafly Bottleworks that explain the history of beer brewing in St. Louis. Maplewood is currently being revitalized by an influx of restaurants, businesses and shops around Manchester Avenue, Sutton Avenue and the Greenwood Historic District. Maplewood’s major employers include Sunnen Products Company, Enterprise Rent A Car, Maplewood-Richmond Heights School District, Shop ‘N Save and Essex Industries. Sunnen Products Company is headquartered in Maplewood.
