Joining Award Class The Pioneer and Patriots are hosting our Joining Award Class on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 4:00 to 5:30 PM and will be teaching the requirements need-ed to earn the Joining Award. The Joining Award must be earned before a girl is eligi-ble to earn badges. If your daughter is NEW to AHG and is a Tenderheart, Explorer, Pioneer, or Patri-ot, OR she just moved up to the Tenderheart Unit from the Pathfinder Unit last May, she will need to attend this special class. If you are unable to attend the class, there is a Joining Award Manual (JoiningAward.pdf) on Troop Track under Share | Troop Documents that will guide you through the process so that your daughter can complete the requirements at home.

National Day of Service

AHG celebrates its birthday by serving others. Every year on the third Saturday in September we have our National Day of Service. On Saturday, September 17th at 9 AM, we will be serving our Charter Organization by washing their windows and washing toys in

their nursery and preschool class-rooms. Join us and earn a patch and service hours. Don’t forget to bring cleaning supplies: Glass cleaner Paper towels or B/W newspaper Step stool Anti-bacterial wipes for cleaning toys Wear your Class B T-Shirt.

Mixed Bag Designs Fundraiser!! GOAL

We need to raise $5,000 for our troop. In order to reach that goal, each family needs to sell at least $170 worth of products. Mixed Bag Designs will give us 40% of each sale. This is our only way of raising funds for our troop as we do not receive any money from our Charter or AHG. If you chose not to participate in this fundraiser, you will need to pay the opt out fee of $90 per daughter (there is a $160 family cap).

PRIZES

Every girl has an opportunity to earn several prizes depending on how much she sells.

COLLECTING MONIES AND TURNING IN ORDERS

Buyers need to pay cash or a check made out to you (the seller), not the troop. Buyers pay sales tax (see chart). Each family will turn in one check made payable to AHG TX318 for the total product sales for your family. Order forms and monies need to be turned in OCTOBER 11, 2016 at our troop meeting. Make sure your daughter’s name is on the order form and on the Mixed Bag Designs envelope. Keep a copy of the order form for your records.

NEW Troop Spirit Wear T-Shirt

The Pioneers and Patriots will be designing

our Spirit wear T-Shirt. The whole troop will be voting for their favorite design

in September.

Class B T-Shirts The blue Class B T-Shirt shown is the official AHG uniform worn in situations when completing messy badge work or service projects could soil or damage the full AHG dress uniform. The AHG full dress uniform should be worn for all AHG activities un-less the Class B T-Shirt or another dress code has been specified by Troop Leadership for a particular event.

Class B and Troop Spirit Wear T-Shirts

The Troop will be providing your daughter with two FREE T-Shirts this year: the Class B T-Shirt and the Troop Spirit Wear T-Shirt. Turn in your daughter’s T-Shirt size starting at the Parent Meeting on August 30, 2016.

Linus Project Blankets: During our October 25th troop meeting, we will be making no-sew fleece blankets for hospitalized children. Start looking for sales now on fleece at JoAnn’s Fabric and Hobby Lobby. We will need 20+ donations of 1 1/2 yards of fleece for this service project.

National Honor Troop Award The National Honor Troop Award (NHTA) is a Troop Recognition Award that: Identifies Troops of excellence based on AHG’s Global Ends, Mission and Vision Promotes continuous growth and improvement Remains an attainable goal There are three levels: Ruby, Sapphire, and Diamond. In the 2014-2015 program year, AHG TX1318 received the second-level of the National Honor Troop Award, which is the Sapphire Award. For the 2016-2017 program year, we are striving to earn the highest level, which is the Diamond Award. The AHG TX1318 Ministry Team has planned a full, well-rounded program for the year with this goal in mind. We are well on our way to achieving this goal, but we need your help. If your daughter is eligi-ble to earn her Religious Award this year, please prayerfully consider signing up for a class (sign-ups will be available at the Religious Award BASH) or helping her earn this award with you at home. Partnering with a few friends and trading off on the counselor role for the week is also another easy way to accomplish this goal and help your daughter grow closer to Christ and other believers by studying God’s Word and talking through the exercises in the workbook together. We did not qualify for Honor Troop in 2015-2016 because there were too many girls lacking their Religious Awards. We are hoping that with your help, we can all work together to encourage the girls to commit to earning their Religious Awards for this year!

Religious Recognition Program AHG offers a religious recognition program for girls (1st - 12th grade) that helps them grow stronger in the Lord. We are planning to have a fun BASH to talk about the awards and complete a project activity for each level of the Religious Award Program to kick-off the start of the program. Details will be distributed through Troop Track as soon as they are finalized.

For every girl that attends, she will have the opportunity to earn a “Love God” PRAY patch. The PRAY patch is a set of 4 different patches that forms a puzzle and she can earn a new segment each year. The patch will cost $3.25.

In preparation, the girls can start memorizing Mark 12:29-31 now: The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the

Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.

Tenderhearts only need to memorize Mark 1 2:30: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

If your daughter earned her Religious Award last year, then she al-ready qualifies to earn the next segment in her “Love God” Puzzle Patch.
