Welcome and Introduction
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFULAs-Salaam Alaikum
My name is Sister Dorothy J. Muhammad.I am enrolled in Muhammad’s University of Islam and I am a student in the Muslim Girls Training and General Civilization Class of the Nation of Islam. It has been a class of self-discovery andlearning about the Universal Order of Things. I feel like Dorothy on the YellowBrick Road. She met the scarecrow, the Tin Man and the lion. I think she met them to really learn something about herself. Lessons learned- Scarecrow-Use the Brainpower of her mind- Tin Man-Open her heart and the Lion- Courage to stand on the principles Freedom, Justice and Equality.. So today I want to share some of my mind and my heart and thank Almighty God Allah for giving me the courage todo so. Also, I want to thank Sister Dawn and Sister Kadara for extending an invitation for me to share with Muhammad University of Islam –Home SchoolNetwork some of what our God Allah has given to me to share with humanity. It is the Ascension Educational Learning Pre-school/1st Grade Reading Life Skills Curriculum.--

When Do we begin teaching students to read?
Illiteracy is defined as an inability to read or write. Many adults and teens are considered to be functionally illiterate.
If we trace the root of their problems, it would guide us back to their
pre-school and elementary years. It is doing those years that students
learn the basics of reading and writing.
Just think about the progress we could make if students learned how to
read proficiently during the pre-school and elementary school years.
We have started the ball rolling in that direction with our curriculum.
Where can we Teach The Ascension Learning Curriculum?
It can be taught at home or in the classroom.
Who can Benefit from our Curriculum? We begin all classes with auditory stimulation and visual
activities - that are designed to improve reading proficiency.
Although our curriculum is designed for pre-school years, it can also be used to teach older students and adults who do not know how to read because we teach the 46 sounds of the English language.
