WELCOME
Welcome to our catalogue where you can learn about our amazing range of products. Broadly, these include ceramic color, ceramic bisque, tools and accessories, acrylic color and our fascinating color wheel and associated products. Chrysanthos was established in China over 10 years ago, with the goal of making low fire ceramics art affordable for everyone while also striving to be recognised as a leader and innovator in the field. As a young player in the industry, we have achieved significant milestones firstly in managing to create beautiful products of consistent quality for many years and secondly as a result of our commitment to quality, been able to capture a sizeable market world wide ranging from amateurs through to seasoned professionals. Our success has encouraged us to become more adventurous in recent years and expand our portfolio to include a broader range of products that increase our market potential outside the ceramic realm, specifically acrylic colors and more recently our washable paints and truly amazing patented color wheel and associated products. This catalogue is divided into 3 sections. The first is ceramic specific; the second focusses on acrylic and water based colors; the third on our color wheel products. We welcome you to join us on our adventure along with the many other people around the world that have come to recognise our brand and trust our quality to enhance their creativity and inspire others to do the same.

Underglazes are full bodied matt opaque glazes that are used as the name suggests under clear glaze. The underglazes have been designed to cover any size area where a consistent opaque finish is required.
Underglazes are suitable for use in education where an affordable non-toxic product is required that is easy to apply and produces outstanding results.
The colors can be used directly from the bottle without the addition of water.
The advantages of the Underglazes are:
1. May be used on greenware or bisque.
2. Will tolerate application to most clay bodies.
3. May be used under most clear brush on or dipping glazes.
4. Easy to apply using between 1 and 3 coats.
5. No bleeding at inter-color interface.
6. Colors may be intermixed to create numerous different other colors.
7. Most colors can be fired as high as cone 10 (1,305o C) in either gas or electric kilns under suitable glazes. Refer to colorchart.
8. May be used for screen printing directly without any additives.

Reshart Art — Kazakhstan uses predominantly Superior Glazes along with other colors to create this beautiful art piece.
Superior Glazes are a range of gloss glazes that are classified in three ways to indicate coverage.
i.e. opaque, semi-transparent and transparent.
The Superior Glazes are non-toxic and are an effective and economic way of covering large areas where one color only is being used.
Functional ware that is coated in Superior Glazes is food safe provided it has been fired correctly and used on a compatible earthenware clay.
All colors are available in brush on form and some as dipping (*) or powder (^) versions. Refer to the color chart.
Colors are all intermixable and Fantasy Crystals may also be added to colors to create interesting effects.
Note: that colors that have Fantasy Crystals added should only be used on decorative ware due to crazing that may occur.

SUPERIOR GLAZES
Colors are reproductions only
The Café Colors are the most spectacular range of bright colored glazes that we manufacture and are
available in three series; two low fire versions that are
satin or glossy at Cone 06 (999 Deg C) and a high fire version where the colors look similar in most cases to the low fire versions, however fire much higher.
All are for decoration of bisque and they can be used either like an underglaze where 3 coats are applied to achieve full coverage or they can be used for detailed design with a translucent effect similar to One Strokes.
The distinct advantage of Café Colors is that they can be dipped into a clear glaze without having to first fire the color. Or in the case of decorative ware, no clear glaze at all is required to obtain a range of different finishes.
Café Colors are progressively becoming more and more popular with PYOP studios and schools due to their ease of use and great color range.
The pallet in each series consists of 60 colors, however colors may be intermixed to achieve an infinite range of colors.
The Gloss range may be identified by use of a “G” suffixed to the product code and the High Fire range may be identified by use of a “H” suffixed to the product code.

Fantasy Crystals are low fire ceramic glass beads of various sizes that may be added to a glaze to create the effect of crystal formation. The molten crystals, form puddles of color which may be reactive.
When different colored crystals are combined in a glaze, some very interesting effects may be created.
The glaze most suited for the Fantasy Crystals is the Superior Glaze range. To enhance crystal formation and glaze flow, a flux SP025 Fantasy Enhancer may be added to the glaze.
CRYSTALLITES
Crystallites are a matt glaze containing clear crystals that highlight the color were they occur in the glaze.
Crystallites are for use on greenware or bisque where 3 coats need to be applied to achieve full coverage and obtain a nice uniform matt finish.
Typically all can be used on low fire clay however some can produce satisfying results on middle fire clay as well.
The Crystallites are mainly suitable for decorative ware however, they may also be used successfully on the outside of functional ware.
3D Trailing Glazes are a raised effect glaze that fires matt and are available in low fire and high fire versions suffixed by “H”. The 3D may be applied directly to bisque, on top of glaze and they may be glazed over depending on the effect required. They may be applied using the nozzle applicator bottle, or layered on using a pallet knife or even sponged on again depending on the final effect required.

The Speckled Café Colors are only available as a gloss in the low fire range for use on earthenware bisque and some are available for use in the high fire range (H) for use on middle fire to stoneware bisque. They can be used similar to the Café Colors in the same firing ranges as they offer full coverage when 3 coats are applied and can be used for detailed design.
It is optional to dip glaze an item if it is for decoration only.
Crackle Glazes are generally transparent to semi transparent. To achieve the crackle effect, the glazes need to be applied to suitable earthenware bisque. The effect can be emphasised by rubbing ink or other dark contrasting liquid onto the glaze and then rubbing off. The cracks will immediately appear. Crackle glazes are suitable for use on decorative ware or they may be used on the outside of functional ware.
The Low Sheen Glazes are a range of bright quality satin/matt glazes that have been designed for use on earthenware bisque. The glaze is very forgiving so that uneven application will still result in a very satisfactory result.
When fired correctly, the Low Sheen glazes are suitable for use in and around functional ware.

Fantasy Glazes are an exciting range of effects glazes that contain various colored crystals that result in explosions of color when fired. Due to the variability of crystals in the glazes, the fired results are never exactly identical which is part of the excitement of using this product.
The Fantasy Glazes can be used by everyone and may be applied individually to ceramicware or in combination to create amazing results.
The full range is available for low fire earthenware and a select few colors are available in High Fire the product code being suffixed by “H”.
When using Fantasy Glazes, the best results may be obtained when 2 or 3 coats are applied with crystals evenly dispersed on the surface of the bisque and fired correctly.
Due to the nature of these glazes, crazing may be experienced therefore they are not for use in functional ware, however they may be used quite successfully on the outside.
Feng Shui Glazes are a limited range outstanding glazes that produce amazing results only achievable by the addition of lead. The glazes are designed for use on earthenware bisque and are not suitable for functional ware.

High Fire Glazes are a range of non toxic gloss glazes that are designed for use on middle fire bisque and are a convenient way of covering large areas with one color. The glazes come in three types as indicated by the suffix on the product code. “O” are opaque, “S” are semi transparent and “T” are transparent.
To obtain the best results 3 coats should be applied and then fired correctly. If fired correctly, the glazes are suitable for use on functional ware.
Some of the glazes indicated by a “^” are available as a powder glaze that can be used for dipping or spraying.
The Clear is also available as a prepared dipping glaze.
The Antique Glazes are a range of low fire variegated glazes for use on earthenware bisque where an antique or aged effect is desired. Due to the nature of the glazes, they will change color depending on the thickness. So in crevasses they will appear darker as they will be thicker.
The variability in the glazes depends very much on the piece they are applied to, the more intricate the design, the more stunning the final result. These glaze are suitable for the exterior of functional ware or may be used entirely over decorative ware.

HIGH FIRE GLAZES
ANTIQUE GLAZES
Colors are reproductions only
Underglaze Pencils can be used for decoration or just marking ware. They can be used from a very low Cone 06 up to Cone 10.
All are non toxic and as they are fired higher will tend to fade a little therefore the final strength of the color will depend on specific conditions.
The colors are fairly resilient to smudging, however it is best to slightly sponge over the design before brushing or dipping in glaze.
High Fire Exotics are a range of effects and variegated glazes for use on middle fire bisque and are suitable for covering large areas. All may be used on functional ware with the exception of the following:
- HE001 and HE005 both contain lead and produce spectacular metallic effects. However they can only be used on decorative ware;
- HE101 is a base that ceramic stains and oxides may be added to so that the more adventurous may create their own exotic glazes;
- HE301 results in a crackle clear effect when fired on middle fire bisque.
To obtain the best results, 2 to 3 solid coats of glaze are recommended. The effect obtained, will depend on the thickness of the glaze and on the surface that has been decorated.
Those colors indicated by a “*” are available as dipping glaze.
Note: that some colors may run a little depending on thickness and firing temperature, so care should be exercised to ensure kiln shelves have been coated with kiln wash.

The Pearl Colors are a quality self sealing non-toxic acrylic pearlescent lustre paint that is suitable for use on many substrates including bisqueware, glass, paper, wood, plaster, etc.
Pearl Colors applied to glassware may be baked in an oven for 30 minutes at 150oC to harden the decoration. After baking in an oven, the decorated finish is quite durable and has good resistance to washing with warm water and soap. The decoration however is not abrasion resistant. Note: if used to decorate glassware, only areas not to come in contact with food should be decorated.
The Metallic Colors are a quality self sealing non-toxic acrylic metallic lustre paint that is suitable for use on many substrates including bisqueware, glass, paper, wood, plaster, etc.

ACRYLIC CRACKLE MEDIUM

Application: Brush one coat before Acrylic Color to be

The AMAZING Chrysanthos Trigeod color wheel! This is the most amazing color wheel anyone will ever encounter! The concept was to develop a color theory project for students that was cross curricular, however what evolved was substantially more…. The traditional color wheel was geometrically redesigned to resemble an iris with the edges of the twelve wedges arched and the centre of the wheel removed. The full color embodiment of these twelve identical shapes attracted the curiosity of a boy who played and started creating unusual objects. This then triggered a series of events that revealed the incredible “hidden” power of the color wheel and the unusual curved wedged shape eventually dubbed a Trigeod™. ONE SHAPE, MANY MINDS, INFINITE POSSIBILITIES The beautiful appearance of the Chrysanthos color wheel consisting of twelve Trigeod® shapes does not readily yield its secrets. This requires imagination! In exploring this most unusual shape; the Trigeod, it has been discovered that twelve Trigeod shapes of a color wheel can be used to create the most realistic biomorphic characters or be a challenging puzzle and by combining more than one wheel, the most striking quasi-tessellations and more can be created…… all from one unusual shape! The apparent infinite possibilities with the one shape are only limited by people’s imagination.
THE NATURE OF THE TRIGEOD. Creativity is being able to use chaotic elements and express them in a uniquely comprehensible and ordered way based on ones personal feelings and experiences. The Trigeod is an element that promotes this expression in a natural unhindered fashion (opened ended play). The importance of this process in an individual’s creative and emotional development cannot be underestimated, particularly in children. The Trigeod, has the uncanny ability to open a persons mind to new ways of thinking and dealing with problems to achieve an outcome that one imagines. The satisfaction that one derives from playing with the Chrysanthos color wheel made of 12 Trigeod shapes is visible on a person’s face when they finally succeed in creating what they imagined…. They have hit the sweet spot!
