The   United   Methodist   Men   will   meet   on   Sunday,  September  8  at  7:30  a.m.  in  the  fellowship  hall!

CIRCLE  #1  will  meet  on  Wednesday,  August  14  at  10:00  a.m.  Contact  Betty  Crews  at  993-­‐2334  for  more  information.  

CIRCLE  #2  will  not  meet   in  August.  We  will  have  our  annual  cookout   on   Sunday,  September   1,   6:00   p.m.   at   the   home   of  Nancy  and  Frank  Ring.  Contact  Eva  Rushing  at  869-­‐6699   for  details.  

THE  BLAKE   IDOL  CIRCLE  will  not  meet  during  August.  Our  next  meeting  will  be  on  Tuesday,  September  17  at  7:00  p.m.  If  you  have  any  questions,  call  Sue  Bridges  at  993-­‐0835.  THE  SUNSHINE  CIRCLE  will  meet  on  Tuesday,  August  27  at  10:00  a.m.  For  more  information  about  this  Circle,  contact  Gloria  Wright  at  993-­‐3278.  

IT’S BACK-TO-SCHOOL TIME AGAIN!  I  can’t  believe  it’s  that  time  again  but  the  newspaper  flyers  are   advertising   back-­‐to-­‐school   prices!!   As   in   the   past  several   years,   we   will   collect   supplies   for   Forest   Park  Elementary   School   students   and   the   teacher   goodie   bags.  

Suggestions—paper,   pencils,   markers,   crayons,   glue   sticks,   etc.   Donations  can  be  placed  in  the  bin  in  the  hallway  near  the  church  office.

 ANNUAL  YOUTH  RIVER  TRIP  TO  THE  BLALOCK’S  If  you  are  a  youth  member  or  family  of  a  youth  member  and   you   are   interested   in   going   on   this   day   trip,   please  see  the  sign-­‐up  sheet  outside  of  Jessica’s  office.  Arrive  at  Bunker  Hill  at  8:45AM  on  Saturday,  August  24  and  bring  a  bag  lunch  and  $3  for  gas  money.  We  will  return  around  8:00PM.  

Today we rejoice to celebrate the infant baptism of Tyler Evan Speaks. Tyler is the son of Daniel and Carla Speaks. May the Lord wonderfully bless this family on this special day.

The children will be coming to you today during the children’s message for your monthly “Koins for Kids” donations. Your gifts help our children to be in mission work around the world.

Please plan to attend our third “Month of Sundays” Renewal Service tonight at 7:00 p.m. The Rev. Jim Brookshire, pastor of Memorial UMC in Kannapolis, will be our guest preacher. Refreshments will follow in the fellowship hall by our youth group. Our guest preacher for next Sunday will be Rev. Andy Lambert, Conference Evangelist and Associate Pastor at Mt. Tabor UMC, Winston-Salem.

There will be no choir practice this Wednesday, August 21. Weekly choir and handbell practices will resume on Wednesday, August 28. Handbells will rehearse at 6:15 in the choir room and choir will rehearse at 7:15 in the sanctuary.

The August S.O.A.R. event will be a Birthday Lunch in the fellowship hall on Thursday, August 22, at 11:30 a.m.

The Staff Parish Relations Committee will meet this Thursday, August 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the New Horizons Classroom.

Child Care Summer Program continues through Friday, August 23.

 URGENT:    Volunteers  are  needed  on  all  eight  Meals  on  Wheels  routes  in  

Kernersville,   including   Bunker   Hill’s   Faith   Route  #53.   If   you   can   help   out   at   least   one   day   a  month,  please   let   Tom   Bridges   or   Leslie   Smith   of   Senior  Services  know.

Friday, August 23, 2013 Outdoor Movie Event Beginning at 8:00PM Bring your snack, soda, and a chair or something comfy to sit on.

Popcorn will be provided. Arrive at 7:30 to get a good seat!

Movie starts at 8:00PM, we will be showing the movie DESPICABLE ME!

           On   this   Sunday,   during  worship  at  11am,  backpacks  and   school   bags   –   and  most  importantly   students,  teacher   and   others   involved  with  the  school  system  –  will  be   blessed.   So,   if   you’re  heading   back   to   the  classroom,   bring   your   own  school   bag   with   you   to  worship  for  the  blessing.

Immediately  following  the  11:00  service,  we  will  be  having  a  Potluck  Salad  Lunch  (Bring  a  pot-­‐luck  salad  dish  to  share)  and  our  2nd  Annual  Bunker  Hill  Cornhole  Tournament.

The   Preschool   at   Sedge   Garden   United   Methodist   Church   has   some  opening  available  in  the  fall  classes  for  children  ages  18  months   to   5   years   on   various   days   of   the   week.   For  more   information   please   call   the   preschool   at   Sedge  Garden  at  788-­‐2230.  Tours  are  available.

If   so  we  would   like   to   invite   you   to   join  our  next   two  events,  Then  Sings  My  Soul  and  Kernersville  Senior  Idol,  presented  by  The  Shepherd’s  Center  of  Kernersville.  You  can  join  the  fun  of  both  of  these  events  as  an  individual  or  as  a  group.    

Contribute  your  youth  or  adult  voice   to   the  community  choir,  directed  by  Dr.  Rick  Hendricks,  for  a  performance  in  our  Then  Sings  My  Soul  event,  on  Friday  October  4,  2013.  Mercy’s  Well  will  also  be  sharing  their  music  during  the  event.  There  will  be  three   Monday   night   rehearsals   for   the   community   choir   on  September  9th,  23rd,  and  30th.    

Kernersville   Senior   Idol  recognizes   the   talent   of  adults   55   years   of   age   or  older.   If   you   have   an  entertaining   act   and   live   in  Kernersville   or   the  surrounding   area,   we   need  your   participation   in   our  auditions   to   find   the   top   ten  acts  who  will  contend  for  the  title  of  2013  Kernersville  Senior  Idol.   Auditions   will   be   held   on   Tuesday,   September   17th;  Thursday,  September  19th;  and  Sunday,  September  22nd.
