The first week we were asked to do three tasks. A weekly schedule, a goal setting graphic and to find three businessis to rebrand. After completing the Ical I found that I have a lot of spare time on my hands that I don’t do much with, this has encouraged me to reconsider my time managment skills and to allocate more time to doing university assignments and finding a job. The second task required us to complie a list of goals, the main goal I am working towards in my life at the moment is Completing my Bachelor of digital Media.the last task required us to source three possible businesses to use for our final assignment and to discuss with a group what the current issues were with the current branding. the three businesses I chose to use were Kaylee’s Beauty Boutique, Relax massage theraphy and the costal community engagement program.. Each business has problems with their designs: Kaylees Beauty boutique currently has very little branding and the design for the website and business cards are messy and un professional. The Boutique needs to be re branded so that it has a clean professional look to it. Relax Massage Therapy has even less branding than Kaylees beauty boutique. There is a logo and business cards however the only source of internet coverage they have is through a private facebook page. This company need a complete branding in order to start effectivly. The Coastal Comminity Engagement program

WEEK 1has asked the studednts in my class to create a new logo and brand their company for them. CCEP has no branding however they have a large number of people that know and support them with their cause.

WEEK 2Design Brief.Company name: Kaylee’s Beauty Boutique.Creative Brief Date: 20/08/2015.Creative Brief Version: 2.Designer: Casey Milsom.Student Number: s2945044Corporate Profile:Kaylee’s Beauty Boutique is individually run and owned by Miss Kaylee Vonharten, she is a traveling makeup artist who does make up for all occasions. Kaylee has recently started up her company and is seeking to create a reputation and image for it as a high quality home boutique. With five years’ experience as a Napoleon Pedris trained makeup artist she is seeking to create a company of her own. Market Position:Kaylee’s company currently has minimal branding and is looking to create a distinguishing image for itself. As this is a start-up company it is imperative that we work together to create a lasting image through branding the company correctly. As Kaylee has vast experience in the industry it is important that the company image should reflect that while also taking into consideration Kaylee’s personality and what she wants to achieve. The final design should be clean, elegant and fun, it also needs to portray the experience she has and the quality of the work she does. As this company is looking to expand its image and reputation through setting up a brand it will require a logo a website and business cards as a starting point. There will also be digital images, illustrations and packaging created for the company.

Communication Background:Contact has been established between myself and Kaylee through social media. It has been agreed that I create a brand for her company. As this is a university assignment no budget will be allocated to this project. Target Market Demographics:Kaylee’s beauty boutique is aimed at the female population of suburban Queensland. The boutique currently does make up for high school formals, weddings and other special occasions aiming at the average woman. The boutique has an affordable price range and offers discounts for formals local to the Redbank area and wedding parties with more than five clients. Within the next five years Kaylee plans for her boutique to be a home run salon. She also plans to be a self-employed business owner running her boutique independently. Objectives:For this project it is important to create an image for the company that reflects the brand it is trying to create for itself. The company is new however Kaylee has vast experience in the industry, so the designs for this company need to reflect this. The logo, branding and packaging will be a new and unique way of looking at design in the makeup industry. With my knowleges of the makeup industry and the standards for packaging I believe I can bring a unique swing to this project.Schedule and Deadlines:This project will be completed by the 27th of October with various stages to be completed before this date. Before this date research, creative concept and designs and production of business cards and the website will be

completed. The initial research into the company and branding strategies has been completed. The initial logo design will be completed by the 18th of August and the final drafts will be completed by the 11th of October. There will also be various stages to be completed, mood boards, packaging and brochure mockups, image roughs a materials spec. sheet a handover contract and a Gantt chart of the project.

WEEK 4Logo Design:Week four was all about logos, we were asked to design five different logos, a symbol, a letter mark, a word mark, an emblem and a combination. After sending the logos to my client I had to re think my designs. my original designs were very modern and funky where the company i am doing is looking for somthing that os clan and elegant. I redesigned the wordmark to suit the company image.

Symbol

The symbol logo was a difficult one to do. i decided that it would be easies to create a simplified version of lips for the logo. They work well in all colours as well as black and white. The client liked this logo the most out of the first five.

Word Mark

The word mark i had the most trouble with. i finished one and sent it away for approval and the style was to spunky and modern, so after hundreds of sketched i had a new logo that was very soft and had a very femini feel to it.

Letter Mark

The letter mark was my least favourite logo to do for this assignment. I found that the letters did not work well together. The final outcome is quite dissapointing as I feel i could do much better than this.

Combination

The combination logo was in my opinion one of the better logos I created. This logo is a clean and new way of looking at logo designs for a makeup company. The logo clearly states what type of company it is for while it is still very simple. This logo works well in any colour as well as very well in black and white.

Emblem

This was my favourite logo that i created for this assignment. the logo has a very refined feel to it. It remindes me of the volks wagen logo with a modern swing to it. I feel that this classic logo is clean and reflects what the company does and stands for. This logo would look fantastic on shirts and merchiandise.

Mood BoardWEEK 5For my mood board i need to reflect the image I am creating fo Kaylee’s Beauty Boutique. The five key words I chose to create my mood board from were: • Pink• Elegant• Girly• Sophisticated • SoftI used Pinterest as a starting point for my mood board. I then took images from the mood board to create my own that was more visually pleasing. There are quite a few similarities between my pinterest board and my final mood board. the colours and the use of sparkely items are a key element that bring the two together as somthing that could be a pair. I also feel that the style of the photographs helps this aswell.

Packaging MocckupsWEEK 6For my packaging I intend to use the folds in my brochure to create a unique way of displaying an image. it will double as a poster. with the other side being left as simple as possible.

Traditional Image 1WEEK 7

For my first traditional image i decided to do an eye as it if often a focal point for makeup artists and one of the parts of the face that requires the most talent to do effectivly. It is also a beautiful feature of the face.

For my second traditional image I decided to do the bottom qutar of the face. this image will be usead as a beautification piece on the website and as a poster.

The last image i chose to create was an opened tube of lipstick. this image will be used as a filler for the website and again as a poster for use on the back of the brochure. I decided to create the image this way as it is a unique and fun way of creating the image.

Digital Image 1 WEEK 7

The first digital image I created was a set of pink lips. I created the lips using Illustrator and layering the highlights and lowlight overeach other until i was happy. I decided to do lips because the set I created for the logo turned out so well I wanted to extend on that idea for a poster.

Thesecond digital image I decided to create for this assignment was an eye. again i decided to do the eye because it is a focus point for makeup artists. I created this image mostly the same way as the lips only with more colours and layers.

The last digital image created for this task was a tube of lipstick.. created the same way as the previous two images. This image will be used as a poster for the brochure, using the colours as a hightlight for the brochure.

Website Design WEEK 8For the website I decided that it was important to keep the design clean, fresh and easy to navigate. As the design would be minimal i decided to use colour to make it more interesting.
