Weekly learning objective
WALT: identify right angles, horizontal and
vertical lines and pairs of perpendicular and parallel lines.
WALT: create an alternate ending to a known myth
Reading Challenges
Using one of the books from Bug
Club have a go at these tasks, focus on the quality of
your presentation as well as the content of what you create:
This week is all about CREATIVITY! Your challenge is to create a 3D model of a character from a story you have read. You can make it in any way that you would like… you might like to use tin foil like we did a while back, or maybe you have some recycling that could be put to use, or playdoh or a sock puppet… the possibilities are endless! Your model needs to have either a speech bubble attached to them with some key information about them as a character or you could take a video and produce a voice over for your character.
Creative Task 1: Transition Task 1
As we get nearer to the end of the Year 3 we will be asking you to complete a few tasks that we can then share with your new Year 4 teachers. This will allow you to introduce yourselves and share some of your amazing personalities with them before you become fully fledged Year 4 pupils in September. This week we would like you to share your super powers. As your Year 3 teachers we are very lucky to know all of your super powers – we know you are creative, resilient, risk takers, extraordinary debate leaders … the list goes on and on! However, the Year 4 staff team might not know you as well as we do just yet. Using the template below please add your head (either drawn or a photo) and then annotate your super hero powers on to your outfit. Maybe you have hidden powers outside of school, such as being a super swimmer!
Please upload these to Seesaw so we can pass them on to the Year 4 team.
Ask your grown up to help you take a really
clear photograph of you work!
MON Task 1 For this week’s Maths you will need to find the identified lessons on the main White Rose website.
https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/ Year 3-week 9 -lesson 1. Right angles in
shapes. Watch the video tutorial and complete the sheet.
Today’s focus is going to be on showing possession using the apostrophe! Use these video clips to help you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXJLYYameBY https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zmq9kmn Once you have watched the BBC video, complete the practice questions to ensure you understood the video.
English Session 1: Complete the Singular and plural sort activity Now have a look at the different sentences and see if you can identify the singular and plural apostrophes
Task 2 Angles can be found where the sides of a 2D shape meet.
Can you identify angles in Kandinsky’s Composition VII.
How many separate straight lines there are? How could we count them? Which is the longest line? And the shortest?
Can you fine an acute angle? An obtuse angle? A right angle?
Either way, we cannot wait to see your creations on Seesaw!
TUES Task 1 https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/ Year 3-week 9 -lesson 2. Compare angles.
Watch the video tutorial and complete the sheet.
Today we are going to focus on making our writing exciting… How can we make our writing exciting? What might we use? What should we avoid? What would make someone want to keep reading? Warm up – what are conjunctions? Sing along with Laura as a reminder as you will need to remember these for the written task today. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z48xt39 Laura sings about conjunctions like 'because', 'if', 'while' and 'until'. These are called subordinating conjunctions because they link a main clause and a
subordinate clause together in a sentence. Subordinating conjunctions help to add the extra information that tells us when, why or where something happens.
For example: Laura smiled because dancing was fun!
'Laura smiled' is the main clause. It makes sense all on
its own.
'because dancing was fun' is the subordinate clause. It adds additional information to the main
clause and wouldn't make sense on its own.
'because' is the subordinating conjunction. It helps to add the extra information to explain why Laura was
smiling. Now watch the video to help you understand how to join your ideas together. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zrr8jhv and then complete activity 1 English Session 2: Now look at the sheet below and explain where the subordinate clauses are and have a go at joining some sentences together using conjunctions.
Task 2: Computing
This week we would like you to have a go at some touch typing skills. Follow the link to BBC Dance Mat Typing and have a go. Regardless of your typing skills it would be a good idea to start at Level 1 as this will ensure that you are using the correct keys for the speediest typing. Have fun!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zf2f9j6/articles/z3c6tfr
Task 2 In this task you will need to identify whether angles are greater than or less than a right angle and name these as acute or obtuse. Draw some stick men on a piece of paper with joints such as elbows, knees and ankles positioned to show acute, right and obtuse angles. Why not challenge yourself and use real sticks to make these? KEY TASK – please upload to Seesaw
WED Task 1

Spelling rules: revision-spelling rules we have learned in Year 3
Singular nouns
A singular noun is a noun referring to just one person or thing. For example: Cat
When you want to show that something belongs to that person or thing, you add a possessive apostrophe and an s. For example: The cat's tail was fluffy. 's shows that the tail belongs to the cat. Top tip If a singular noun already ends in s, you don't need to add another s. You can just add an apostrophe at the end. For example: Charles' cat was naughty.
Plural nouns ending in s
Plural nouns refer to more than one person or thing. For example: Brothers To show possession when the noun is plural and already ends in s, you just add an apostrophe to the end of the word. You don't need to add an extra s. For example:
The brothers' feet were muddy. The girls' bathroom was a mess.
