    o0o8oo Dear families~ February 1st, 2013

    All homework is due by Friday, February 8th:

    The Free-Choice Spelling Sheet will no longer be sent home. By now, you

    children know with which methods they are successful. Continue to use them!

    Sharpen your math and reading skills on ScootPad- Click on Homework.

    Continue to record your nightly reading on your February Book-It form.

    Word-Build with our tricky spelling words and turn in Word-Building sheet.

    Begin writing out your Valentine cards! Your children may send them in

    whenever they have finished them. (You can find a class list on the protopage.)

    On the protopage, click on the Spelling Words tab to see a movie I made about these:

    Performing Arts Center Due to the play, we will take our pretest on Wednesday. Feb 8th- THE 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL! Be sure to ask your children about the FUN! Feb 14th- day of school and NO Running Club **Valentines Day party in the AM **

    Feb 15th-18th- NO SCHOOL due to Mid-Winter Break

    We have a crazy week ahead of us and soon the homework load will increase a bit, but its January nowand we need to be raising the bar to meet the first grade expectations set for this time of year. Spacethe homework out and do a bit each night. Second grade teachers like to assign homework and makeit due the next morning, so its a good idea now to get into the habit of setting aside time each nightThe School-Home Literacy Links page will be sent next Friday and is a great way to practice severaskills at once: reading, comprehension, decoding, and writing. We will be taking our District WritingTest soon and this page will help us demonstrate the skills we need to master in order to beSecond-Grade-Ready!
