    After Huawei, ZTE bags 300-cr BSNL

    contracty After Chinas Huawei clinched a plum 3G network

    equipment contract from Tata Teleservices, it was rival

    had not been approved since February 18 even thoughthe Centre all along maintained that there was noofficial blanket ban on import oftelecom gear fromChina.

    y Incidentally, both BSNL and stateowned MTNL wereallocated broadband wireless access (BWA) airwavesbefore private players won them in the June 2010auctions.

    y The defence ministry had pointed out to the telecomdepartment that BSNLs proposed Wimaxbasedbroadband services could be a potent security threat asthey could interfere with the mobile satellite services

    (MSS) being used by the armedforces.

    Max plans to set up 60 stores across India

    y Leading fashion retail chain Max ofDubai-based

    Landmark Group aims to establish 60 stores by 2010-11 in

    the country.y Max on Saturday launched its first store at Bhopal and the

    third in Madhya Pradesh.

    y "We aim to take our offering to customers across the nation

    including all metros and key Tier II and Tier III cities. At

    present we have 33 stores across India and plan to take it to

    60 by 2010-11," Max Executive Director, Vasanth Kumar told

    reporters on the occasion.

    Burger King agrees to be sold for $3.26bn

    y Burger King Holdings Inc, the No. 2 US fast-foodchain, agreed to sell itselfto investment firm 3GCapital for about $3.26 billion in a deal.

    y At $24 per share, the deal represents a 46 percentpremium to Burger King's price.

    y Before details of the deal became public onWednesday, shares in Burger King were down more

    than 31 percent since the end of2008. McDonald'sshares were up nearly 18 percent. On Thursday, sharesofBurger King were up more than 24 percent at $23.44in morning trading and had gained nearly 15 percent

    on Wednesday.

    Mr Chauhan stepped in and built a partnership withrag pickers, announced attractive prices for PETgarbage, commissioned collection centres, purchasedabout 5000 kg every month, processed it and sold it tocompanies like Reliance Industries.

    y His intervention birthed an entire PET recyclingecosystem that now collects about 1,200 tonnes ofPET

    waste from Mumbais streets every day, according toindustry estimates. Another 700 tonnes are collectedfrom the rest ofMaharashtra.

    Infosys BPO loses work from Deutsche Bank

    y Deutsche Bank is moving a portion of its back officeprocesses from Infosys BPO to its captive centre in thecity.

    y Some 150 people are working on this process. Infosyshas another 500-plus BPO executives working for

    various other processes ofDeutsche Bank who willremain with Infosys.

    y Following the bank's decision, Infosys sent an officialcommunique to the 150 employees giving them theoption to leave the company to be with DeutscheNetwork Services for much higher salaries.
