• Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday welcomed the Centre's efforts to address the Kashmir issue in a peaceful atmosphere through dialogue process. "I welcome the statement recently made by the Union Home Minister regarding Jammu and Kashmir.

• Right from the day I have taken over as chief minister, I am strongly advocating addressing of political issues of the state and restoring both external and internal dialogue channels," he told a public gathering here. Chidambaram had recently referred to Jammu and Kashmir as a "unique problem needing a unique solution". problems.

Suspension of BlackBerry service no solution: Canada tells India

• Stating that security concerns are not specific to BlackBerry alone, Canada is understood to have told India that suspension of services may not yield any result.

• The government has imposed a deadline of August 31 asking BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) to either provide a solution for

monitoring encrypted data or shut shop.• However, no confirmation could be obtained from the Canada High

Commission.

• India has security concerns and these are legitimate and it has all rights to look for solution, but suspension of services is not the one, feels Canada

‘Defence ties with India not halted’

• As India put on hold bilateral defense exchanges, China on Saturday said that the two countries would act in the spirit of "consultation and unity" to develop military ties, but remain mum on issue of denial of permission to a top Indian General to visit here.

• New Delhi has said Beijing's action amounts to questioning the status of J&K which is unacceptable.

• Defence exchanges will remain suspended till the matter is resolved.

Religare Promoters To Make Open Offer For Additional 20% Stake

• Religare enterprises made an open offer to company share holder at Rs.475 a share, which will increase there stake further by 20%

• The offer open on October 13 and will close on November 1.

• Promoter said that they will infuse the 857 crore by the way of fresh share issue , preferential allotment and warrant conversion.
