If You Would Like to Make
Morrow First Your Church Home… …then we welcome you. The first
thing you need to do is talk to the
pastor. Establishing a church home
means to be intentional about your
relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches us in the book of
Acts 2:38-39 (ESV), And Peter
said to them, “Repent and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the
Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children
and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God
calls to himself.”
Call the church office to set up an appointment.

help me settle into my position as office administer. One was a nice surprise as Susan Adams and I worked together at Sylvan Learning Center many years ago. Currently, I reside in McDonough but I have lived in Stockbridge, Norcross, and Pa-nama City, Florida – but that is another story. My family’s church is Bethel UMC on Fairview Road in Stockbridge. Both my parents and I attended as children. Last week Bethel celebrated 156
years with the great tradition of a potluck dinner.
Those of you that have popped by gave some good suggestions on what I should include in this space. Hopefully I will answer your questions. I am a graduate of Stockbridge High School and Clayton State University – although I remember it as Clayton College and State University. Recently I worked as an adminis-trative assistant with Community Gardens of Henry County. It is a non-profit organization that provided plots for residents and has a volunteer run donation garden that provides produce to other Henry non-profits. I did spend most of my time rooting around Excel but I do enjoy getting my hands dirty. My home garden has zucchini, green beans, and tomatoes. And I have some kale and winter squash seeds waiting to round out my garden. I appreciate the opportunity to work with all the folks that call Mor-row First home.
Hello Morrow First UMC! I am Cora Johnson. Thank you for the warm welcome. Many of you have dropped by to say hello this week and
Thank You To All of you that partici-
pated and contributed
in the youth lounge
remodel. Many hours
were spent cleaning,
painting, and assem-
bling to make this a
fun area for MFUMC Youth. The remodel is 90% com-
plete.
Thank you to Larry Cochran for your donation towards a
DVD player for the lounge. The Guitar Hero equipment
needs the accompanying Xbox console.
Welcome Back! Please join us on August 28, 2016 for a covered dish
luncheon welcoming back Pastor Luis and Melanie for
another year serving Morrow First United Methodist
Church. We are asking church members to bring their
favorite dish to share and join us for food, fellowship,
and fun immediately following the service.
Let’s make August a month of Celebration!

The C&D Drive Was a
Huge Success!
I want to thank everyone for their donations to the
Clayton County Humane Society. Several of the
children and youth dropped off the donations on
Sunday, July 31st, and the workers and volunteers were
so excited. Our church donated 90 pounds of dog food,
134 pounds of cat food, 201 pounds of kitty litter, and
lots of office supplies, pet toys, and collars. I love how
our church comes together to meet the needs of our
community. Matthew 25:40 “The King will reply,
‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of
these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me’”.
Sincerely, Emily Gawel
Back-to-School-Bash Success!
A great big thank you to John and Kathy Gailey, Nelda
Dunson, and Andrew and Anna Cox for making the
Back-to-School-Bash on July 31 such a success! We
really had a great time!
Sincerely, The Children and Youth of MFUMC
Let us run with perseverance the race that-God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1b (NIV)

Gathering
As we gather to worship our Lord, feel free to greet your neighbors in Christian love. However, when the
announcements begin, please take your seats and at the chiming of the hour prepare your hearts and minds for
worship. Out of courtesy for your brothers and sisters in faith, silence your cell phones so we can be in a spirit of
worship throughout the service.
Do This In Remembrance Of Me ...“This is my body, which is given for you… This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my
blood.” (Luke 22:19-20)
Communion Offering The offering left at the Chancel rail during Communion today will be used to assist the needy in the community.

DID YOU KNOW? The United Methodist Church tracks levels of involvement at churches through a program called VitalSigns. Every
Monday MFUMC receives an email reminder to complete this info. You may wonder from where this information is
gathered. From You, the church’s members and small group leaders. Every church event counts and is counted.
Please help MFUMC report accurate counts by submitting to the office each small group activity and its attendance
by the Sunday after the activity. An easy way to submit is email to church office, [email protected],
with the small group name, date, and how many people attended (non-members included).
