The 150th Session of The North Georgia Annual Conference is June 7-9, 2016 at The Classic Center in Athens Our Official Delegates: Clergy, Rev. Luis Ortiz; Lay, Anna Cox Theme for The 150 th session of the North Georgia Annual Conference is Bound for Greater Things, based on John 14:12-14. Annual Conference special offering will help Action Ministries “Raise the Roof” over the heads of families in need, providing them with the foundational pillars of hunger relief, housing and educational opportunities. This Sunday, please place a check in offering plate made out to Morrow First UMC with “AC Offering” in the memo line. Our offering will be taken to Annual Conference by our lay delegate. Bishop B. Michael Watson, resident bishop of The United Methodist Church’s North Georgia Episcopal Area since 2008 will be retiring on September 1, 2016. A service of celebration to honor the ministry of Bishop Watson and his wife Margaret will take place June 8 at the 7 p.m. evening session where they will be presented with a love offering as a gift of appreciation. An informal reception follows the service. Additionally, a book of remembrances is being assembled by the Conference Episcopacy Committee, and tables will be set up where people can go to write notes to Bishop and Mrs. Watson. On Tuesday, June 21st, the youth will be making

lunches for approximately 50 of the Midwest Food

Bank Volunteers. We will meet at church at 8:00 AM

to prepare the lunch and load the bus by 9:30. We

will have everything set up at Midwest Food Bank by

11:15 where we will serve the volunteer workers and

return to church by 1:00 p.m..

On Thursday, July 14, the youth and any interested

adults may come and help load the groceries for other

churches/organizations that have food banks. We will

leave church at 4:00 PM and stop for dinner on the

way to the Midwest Food Bank. We will begin

working around 6:30 and end around 8:30. We

should be back at church by 9:30 PM.
