More information about the project will be given to the members in the following weeks.”

- asked the members to stand and observe a minute of silence in memory of Juliana Rosenboom.

Rtn. Udo and Anna have requested that NO flowers be sent to their home or to the Memorial Service, which will be held on Tuesday, 12 August 2014 at the WakaGangga Resort. Instead, please consider making a donation to the JULIANA ROSENBOOM MEMORIAL FUND - care of the RCBS:

1. August is Membership and Extension Month. Sec. Patrick distributed a handout entitled ‘18 Great Ideas to Help Build Membership.’ He went on to say that finding new, qualified members every year is vital for the RCBS to remain ‘healthy.’ RCBS primarily consist of expats and unfortunately 5 – 10 members leave every year because of a variety of reasons, e.g. professional opportunities in other countries, family obligations, health, etc. SO every member MUST be on the LOOKOUT for potential new members. We must ALL assist our Membership Committee Chairperson, Marie-Francoise, to invite people to our Weekly Meetings,

PP Anita continued her talk and explained to the members on HOW they can support TRF by making their contributions ONLINE. For further details, please contact PP Anita directly: <[email protected]>

Annual Fund-SHARE is the primary source of funding for a broad range of local and international Rotary Foundation activities. Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY) is the fundraising initiative to encourage support for the Foundation’s Annual Fund.

Lastly, PP Anita encouraged members to contribute ‘at least’ US$ 100 every year so that TRF can continue their Humanitarian work around the world …. SaA Jan reminded the members that we have a number of Muntigunung Products for sale and that these can be purchased after our weekly meetings. The proceeds from the sales of these items go to the Hollistic Muntigunung Poverty Eradication Project, which consists of several programs for people living in a number of isolated villages in the northern part of Bali, e.g. clean water, capacity building, health, education and social enterprises. He also reminded the members about our Monthly Fellowship Evenings at the Anantara – every second Monday of the month. Our next one will be on Monday, 11 August – starting at 18:00. VP Yuki informed the members that he is organizing a Project Tour (Student Scholarships Program and Microcredit (Goats) Project) to Nusa Penida on Saturday, 30 August. He will be sending out the details to the members next week.

‘Living Longer Better’ by Dr. Dave Jenkins

Secretary CP Patrick introduced the Guest Speaker, Dr. Dave Jenkins, who is a Physician specializing in Optimal Health and Anti-Aging and is the founder of multi-award winning international NGO - SurfAid International. Dr. Dave started his talk by briefly outlining the four topics that he would be covering:

1) The new science of why we age and get degenerative illnesses such as Heart Attacks, Strokes, Alzheimer's, Cognitive Decline and Cancer. 2) Scientifically backed wisdoms from the healthiest cultures we can use. 3) Dr. Dave’s MORE MODEL to help shape a healthy way of life. 4) Some helpful, easy to do examples from his MORE MODEL.

Dr. Dave shared his personal transformational story to demonstrate how he and hence others can transform their lives. Following years of stress in founding an international aid organization Dr. Dave was 100 kgs with raised blood lipids, high blood pressure, fatty liver and high estrogen putting him a high risk of heart attacks, strokes, and cancers such as prostate and bowel cancer. Following a surfing accident he discovered he had advanced arthritis in his neck and he realized that combined with his poor biochemistry he could well be aging fast. He began to research and use new information and technology like epigenetics and behavior change tools to transform his life and keep him surfing. He is now is a focused relaxed vital 82 kgs with normal biochemistry and BP, and at 54 years of age has a measured biological age of the average 35 year old and surfing better than he ever has in his life. And HOW did he accomplish this?
