Pope Francis’ August Prayer Intention
Let us pray for the Church, that She may receive from the Holy Spirit the grace and strength to reform herself in the light of the Gospel
The St. Rita Men’s Spirituality Group will present as our program this fall, “Parousia” which Raymond Augustin will narrate for us again this year. Our meetings will be in the Community Room at 7 pm. The first meeting will be Wednesday, September 1st, then we’ll move them to the second Thursday of each month. A group text will be sent as a reminder each week before the meeting. No registration is required, just show up at the Community Room for some good food, good fellowship, and spiritual growth. A $5.00 donation is suggested to cover the cost of the food.

WHAT IS RCIA? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the
process established for the universal Church for
individuals to become Catholic and receive the
sacraments of initiation-Baptism, Confirmation, and
Eucharist. This initiation process also involves a parish
community experiencing a renewal in faith as it prepares
and welcomes new members into the Church. The Rite
speaks of conversation as a "spiritual journey". Centered
on fostering a deep relationship with Jesus and the
Church he founded, this journey takes place through
distinct stages over a period of time suitable to bring
thorough catechesis, significant experience of a parish
community and commitment to liturgical and moral life
of the Catholic faithful. The RCIA process is a restoration
of the ancient catechumenate, arising within the first
three centuries. The Second Vatican Council called for
the restoration and use of this venerable and powerful
method of initiation for the worldwide Church.
Whom is RCIA for?
1. Persons in need of Baptism.
2. Persons baptized in another Christian tradition who
desire to become Catholic.
3. Persons baptized Catholic in need of First Communion
and/or Confirmation.

Hurricane Season Prayer O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control. The Gulf, like a
provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and
whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with
your Son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a storm-less eternity awaits us. Amen. Originally dedicated to the
victims of Hurricane Audrey in 1957. - Fr. Al Volpe, Cameron Parish, LA
Monthly Explanation of the Mass
The Eucharistic Prayer
The Eucharistic Prayer is the “center and high point of the en-tire celebration,” through which “the whole congregation of the faithful joins with Christ in confessing the great deeds of God and in the offering of Sacrifice” (General Instruction of the Roman Missal, 78). This central prayer of the Mass is why we often refer to the entire celebration as Eucharist, which is not a thing, but rather an action – Eucha-rist (a Greek term) literally means “to give thanks.”
Although this prayer is spoken mostly by the priest, the gathered
faithful are in no way spectators. We are all doing something even if we are not speaking – our active participation is para-mount here, for we are offering our very selves in thanksgiv-ing for all God has done to save us and we join our prayer to that of Christ who speaks through the priest.
The Eucharistic Prayer leads us miraculously beyond space and time – earth is joined to heaven and past, present, and future become one in our celebration, enabling us at each Mass to be with Christ at His sacrifice on the Cross (past) and with Him and all the angels and saints at the heavenly banquet (future). This calls us to actively participate by fixing our minds and hearts on God in thanksgiving and in offering our lives to God as Christ has done.
The monthly meeting of the St. Rita Silver Trotters is on August 26th at 7:00pm in the gym. It’s our Bizarre Bazaar where shopping is on the agenda. The vendors are CB & Company, Avon, Total Postal, Mule’s, and Theresa & Cohorts. With this group, you have makeup, jewelry, hand crafted items, gifts, and the list goes on. Also, there will be cakes, yes I said cakes to choose from. Come and enjoy our meeting, 50/50, shopping, cakes and soft drinks. For additional information call Louise Chapman (504) 737-3797.
