CONGRATULATIONS FATHER JORGE LUIS TORO RIVAS
This Monday, July 5th, 2021, Rev. Jorge Luis Toro Rivas will be celebrating his 35 years of priesthood.
Rev. Jorge Luis Toro Rivas born on March 6th, 1960, in Antioquia, Colombia, he is the son of Fernando Toro and Mercedes Rivas, both of whom are deceased.
Rev. Jorge Luis Toro completed his studies of Moral Theology and Bioethics in Rome, likewise Fr. Jorge Luis Toro worked at Congregation of the Holy family alongside with Archbishop Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo of Medellin, Colombia.
He was also Rector and Professor at the Major Seminary Santa Maria La Antigua, forming seminarians, as well as, Professor at the Catholic University of Pereira, and currently serves the Catholic Church as Pastor of San Lucas Evangelista Church in the Villaverde neighborhood of Pereira. Fr. Jorge Luis Toro was ordained in July 5th, 1986 by His Holiness Saint John Paul II at the Olaya Herrera Airport.
We welcome Fr. Jorge Luis Toro to Blessed Sacrament Church Thanking him for his willingness to serve our community during the month of July 2021, as he does every summer.

“THEY DO NOT DESPISE A PROPHET EXCEPT IN HIS OWN LAND.”
The first reading tells us that the prophet is God’s witness among men. His testimony is heard does not matter it listened or rejected. This helps us to take his word as a sign. In this case, before God, who sends the messenger: “Son of Adam, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious people who have rebelled against me...”. Today these prophets are each one of the baptized, as we receive this triple gift from God “Priests, Prophets, and Kings”.
In the second reading, St. Paul, the great proclaimer of the Gospel, felt the temptation of triumphalism, like us in so many moments that we have lived in similar attitudes. For this reason, he thanked God for surrounding him with weaknesses of all kinds: poor health, harsh criticism, material deprivation, insults, “because, when I am weak, then I am strong.” What a life lesson St. Paul leaves us today in what we call the Imitation of Christ. In the Gospel Jesus is received with suspicion and rejection by his own people. Like them, we often resist the prophetic word because of our stubbornness of heart, rooted in misguided pride that leads to weakness and despair.
Today, the Fourth of July, we give thanks to God for the United States of America on its Independence Day because. It has welcomed us and given us many opportunities to grow and strengthen our Latin American roots in spite of the racism and classism that still remain in many sources of American Society. Tomorrow will be a National Day and we will have a ONE Special Bilingual Mass at 9:00 am to commemorate this great day.

“NO DESPRECIAN A UN PROFETA MAS QUE EN SU PROPIA TIERRA”.
La primera lectura nos dice que el profeta es testigo de Dios entre los hombres. Su testimonio no se hace oír nunca en balde, lo escuchen o lo rechacen. Esto nos ayuda a tomar una actitud como un signo; es decir, ante lo que el testigo atestigua. En este caso ante Dios, que envía al mensajero: “Hijo de Adán, yo te envío a los Israelitas, a un pueblo rebelde que se ha rebelado contra mi…”. Hoy estos profetas somos cada uno de los Bautizados, al recibir este triple regalo de Dios “Sacerdotes Profetas y Reyes”.
En la segunda lectura, San Pablo, el gran proclamador del Evangelio, sentía la tentación del triunfalismo, como nosotros en tantos momentos que hemos vivido en actitudes similares, Por eso, agradece a Dios que lo rodee de debilidades de todo género: Poca salud, criticas duras, privaciones materiales, insultos, porque, cuando soy débil, entonces soy fuerte. Que lección de vida nos deja hoy San Pablo en lo que llamamos la Imitación de Cristo.
En el Evangelio Jesús es recibido con recelo y rechazo por parte de su propio pueblo. Al igual que ellos, nosotros a menudo nos resistimos a la palabra profética por nuestra obstinación de corazón, arraigada en el orgullo erróneo que conduce a la debilidad y a la desesperanza.
Hoy, Cuatro de JULIO damos Gracias a Dios por Estados Unidos en su Día de Independencia por cuanto nos ha acogido y dado muchas oportunidades de Crecer y Fortalecer nuestras raíces latinoamericanas a pesar del racismo y clasismo que aún permanecen en muchas fuentes de la Sociedad Americana. Mañana Será día Nacional y tendremos UNA Misa Especial Bilingüe a las 9:00 am para conmemorar este gran día.

FELICITACIONES PADRE JORGE LUIS TORO RIVAS
Este lunes 5 de julio de 2021, el Padre Jorge Luis Toro Rivas estará celebrando sus 35 años de sacerdocio.
El Padre Jorge Luis Toro Rivas nació el 6 de marzo de 1960, en Antioquia, Colombia, es hijo de Fernando Toro y Mercedes Rivas, ambos fallecidos.
El Padre Jorge Luis Toro realizó sus estudios de Teología Moral y Bioética en Roma, así mismo el Padre Jorge Luis Toro trabajó en la Congregación de la Sagrada Familia junto al Arzobispo Cardenal Alfonso López Trujillo de Medellín, Colombia. También fue rector y profesor del Seminario Mayor Santa María La Antigua, formando seminaristas, profesor de la Universidad Católica de Pereira, y actualmente sirve a la Iglesia Católica como párroco de la Iglesia San Lucas Evangelista en el barrio Villaverde de Pereira. El Padre Jorge Luis Toro fue ordenado el 5 de julio de 1986 por Su Santidad San Juan Pablo II en el Aeropuerto Olaya Herrera.
Damos la bienvenida al P. Jorge Luis Toro a la Iglesia del Santísimo Sacramento, agradeciendo su disposición a servir en nuestra comunidad durante el mes de julio de 2021, como lo hace cada verano.

Our Parish and the Faith Formation Office, express their gratitude to all those who made it possible for our Sacramental celebrations of First Communion 2021, to be carried out in a Holy way and in an exemplary framework of Community.
Special thanks to Rev. Gabriel J. Toro R., for his support to the different catechetical programs. To the Catechists, who responding to God’s call, put their time and gifts at the service of the Church to transmit the Catholic Doctrine to our children and youth, as well as to the catechists of the adults who guided them in their process to receive and complete the Sacraments of Christian Initiation.
We extend this gratitude to the Director, Mr. Edwin Pérez, our Chaplain Rev. Saint Charles Borno and the Vice-director, Ms. Teresa Alonso, who in an accurate leadership have conducted the doctrinal program in an optimal manner, whose fruits are of the knowledge of our Community.
We also thank the Liturgical Body of our Parish for their performance and disposition in each of the celebrations.

Nuestra Parroquia y la Oficina de Formación de Fe, expresan sus agradecimientos a todos aquellos que hicieron posible que nuestras celebraciones Sacramentales de la Primera Comunión del 2021, se desarrollaran de manera Santa y en un marco ejemplar de Comunidad.
Un agradecimiento especial a nuestro Párroco, Rev. Gabriel J. Toro R., por el apoyo a los diferentes programas de catequesis. A los Catequistas, quienes respondiendo al llamado de Dios, pusieron al servicio de la Iglesia su tiempo y sus dones para transmitir la Doctrina Católica a nuestros niños y jóvenes, así como también a los catequistas de los adultos quienes los guiaron en su proceso a recibir y completar los Sacramentos de Iniciación Cristiana.

FUNERAL MASS WITH ASHES
The Parish of the Blessed Sacrament opens its doors to all those who lost a loved one during the pandemic, and whose cremated bodies have not yet had a funeral, so they can celebrate the funeral with ashes. As a main requirement the Death Certificate is requested.
To make the arrangements please call the parish office at 718-639-3889.
SPIRITUAL PARTICIPATION IN THE EUCHARIST
We want to remind you that the Eucharistic Bread and Wine, the Lamp of the Sanctuary, the Candles and the Flowers used for the celebration of the Mass in our parish, can be offered for a week. Each gift is offered for an intention, which can be for the sick, in thanksgiving, birthday, or in memory of a loved one.
The intention is announced in the weekly bulletin. For more information please call at 718-639-3889, or come to the Parish Office in order to make arrangements.
MISA FUNERAL CON CENIZAS
La Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento abre sus puertas, a todos aquellos que perdieron a un ser querido durante la pandemia, y cuyos cuerpos cremados aún no han tenido funeral, para que puedan celebrar las exequias con las cenizas de su ser querido. Se solicita como principal requisito el Certificado de Defunción.

PARTICIPACIÓN ESPIRITUAL EN LA EUCARISTÍA
Queremos recordarles que el Pan y Vino Eucarísticos, la Lámpara del Santuario, las Velas y las Flores que se utilizan para la celebración de la Misa en nuestra parroquia, se pueden ofrecer durante una semana. Cada regalo se ofrece con una intención, que puede ser por Salud y Bienestar, en acción de gracias, cumpleaños o en memoria de un ser querido. La intención se anuncia en el boletín semanal. MINISTERIAL FORMATIONFr. Jorge Luis Toro will begin a formation course for liturgical ministers, next Wednesday, July 7th, 2021. There will be three introductory sessions on Wednesdays: July 7th, 14th, 21st from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PMThe participation of new ministers is mandatory. Please come to the Parish Office to register with your ID and a donation of $20.00 per person.
