• You can find this guide on the LVS website under the High School tab. On the dropdown menu, click Guidance and Counseling. This will take you to this document, which you can click on and download.
• The course planning guide helpsyou determine which coursesyou need to take to meet highschool graduation requirements.
• Page 3 lists a general overviewof the enrollment sequence.
• Page 4 displays the sequence of coursesfor the four core areas of study: English, math, science, and social studies.
• Follow this sequence when you arechoosing courses. For example, if youtook English 10 this year, you are nowready for American Lit., regardless ofyour grade level and regardless ofwhether or not you passed the course.
• When choosing a math course, consider the following sequence andchoose accordingly: Pre-Algebra,Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calc/Trig. or higher. Seek assistance ifneeded.
FIELD DAY: MAY 3, 2019Join us from 10:00 a.m. to noon for a Careers on Wheels fair, which will be located in the front circle drive. We will have folks with us whose jobs depend on their “wheels.” They will discuss their education and training, as well as various aspects of their job.
These folks need you to come with a list of interview questions on paper. As you interview them, jot your answers down to have your name thrown into a drawing for a cool prize.
Grades K-5 and 6-8, I’ll be reaching out with a date and time for an assembly in Class Connect so we can talk about careers and “prep” ourselves for this adventure!
I look forward to talking with you all very soon! ~Mrs. Lyke
Project Room

with a group (such as scouts).
There is no need to sign up. Just bring your project to Field
Day. You will set it up and leave it for others to check out
while you enjoy Field Day. Pick up your project at the end of the day to take home.

FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid• If you are like most Americans, you need help paying for college.
• The FAFSA will determine how much aid (money) you will receive from the government in the way of students loans (you pay back) and grants (FREE $ - you do not pay back).
• Fill out the FAFSA and designate the schools on the application you wish to receive your information.
• You will need the following for yourself and for your parents, assuming you are a dependent:
• Your Social Security Number
• Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
• Your federal income tax returns, W-2s and other records of money earned. (Note – you may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
• Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
• Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
• A FAFSA ID to sign electronically
• There is no obligation to accept the student aid, so do NOT ignore this! It could save you hundreds or thousands of dollars.
• The federal deadline for filing your FAFSA is June 30, 2019, but the state deadline is April 1. Each college may have a different deadline, so inquire now and know what that deadline is.
• Visit https://fafsa.ed.gov/ to start your application TODAY.
