Go to Textbook 2B, Chapter 10 – Money, Lesson 1 – Writing Amounts of Money. Please work through the textbook activities and then click the link on the top right-hand corner that says ‘Go to Workbook’ for the activity sheet/s for your child to complete.

Use ‘an’ and ‘a’ correctly. Read the ‘A or An?’ poster below this timetable and discuss that ‘an’ comes before words beginning with a vowel (a, e, i, o, u). For example: an ant, an earthworm. Then discuss that ‘a’ comes before words beginning with a consonant (these are any letters that are not vowel). For example: a butterfly, a wasp. Complete the ‘A or An?’ activity sheet below this timetable. When is ‘a’ or ‘an needed? How do you know? Extension: Can you think of some of your own examples of when ‘a’ or ‘an’ is needed before a noun/a thing? Create a list.

Spelling Activity 1: See the Year 1and 2 CEW spelling sheet below this timetable. Choose 5 words (particularly Year 2 words), practice spelling each word and then hide the words and be tested to see if you can remember how the words are spelt. Can you write descriptive sentences with these words in? Move on to different words each day or repeat words that you are making mistakes with to help you to practice more.
