Onward and Upward Over the past two years, our school has witnessed significant growth. This is attributed to the incredibly experienced staff, supportive families, visionary School Board, strengthened relationships with our Parish, and most importantly, our amazing students. The entire St Mary’s Catholic School Community is to be congratulated and applauded for this growth. As you are all aware, we are continuing to upgrade our school facilities, with our current upgrade of 4 classrooms, a chill out space and Library upgrade due for completion mid January 2020. We are committed to ensuring that we continue to provide contemporary and flexible teaching spaces, aligned with our pedagogical practices. We have very high expectations, both behaviourally and academically. I would like to express a sincere thank you to all families for working in conjunction with the school this year, to ensure your child achieves their maximum potential. We pride ourselves on sharing information regarding your child’s success and struggles, as transparency and communication are key. Our School Board has been working in collaboration with the Townsville Catholic Education Office to develop an Enrolment Policy and Strategic Capitals Plan to meet the demands of our growing school. Our Enrolment Policy can be located on our school website. Alternatively, you are more than welcome to pop in to the school office and we will provide you with a hard copy. I thank all families for continuing to value and champion our wonderful school.

Outstanding Altar Servers Congratulations to all children who have volunteered to join our Altar Serving Program this year. Each Saturday evening I attend Mass. This past week, I had an overwhelming sense of pride, as two of my students adopted the roles of altar servers during the weekend Mass. Year 6 student Karlee Cairns has been altar serving for many years and she has now adopted the role as a peer tutor. During Mass, Karlee remains on the altar and assists and guides our new students, who are learning the many steps and procedures involved with altar serving. Congratulations to all students who are devoting their time on the weekends to attend Mass and to learn how to altar serve. This is no easy task by any means. I also would like to sincerely thank Karlee, for her guidance and support. We will dearly miss you next year, as you enter into high school. During the weekend Mass, Fr Thomas read the Gospel Reading “He is not a God of the dead but of the living” Luke 20: 27 - 38. To reflect on the Gospel reading, you may like to ask your children the following questions. What do you think heaven is like? How might it be different to living in this world? How might it be the same? What can we do that shows that God is with us? Jesus promises to be with us now and strengthen us as we do his will on earth. Remind your children that God is with us now on earth, as He will be in heaven.

News from our Chaplain……
During the month of November we ask for donations of non-
perishables to the St Vincent De Paul charity who make up food
parcels for Christmas, for those families who struggle to have
enough to celebrate Jesus’s birth. In each classroom is a box to
collect your donations. Thank you for you generosity.
Thank you all children who attend weekend Mass and to those
who served with Fr Thomas. He loves to see all the little angels
on the altar and in the pews with their families who help ‘grow’
our congregation!
Mini Vinnie students, Alexis, Keeleigh, Cooper and Nick visited
Murroona Gardens this week and handed out one birthday card
to Grandma Esme. Best wishes!
Please support the ‘Mary MacKillop Today’ foundation by send-
ing in used stamps which can be turned into cash to help those
less fortunate. Thank you for the stamps that have been
brought in so far.
