Kershaw Area Deaths MRS. REBA CARO- LINE WEST HAM- MOND KERSHAW A graveside inurnment service for Reba Caro- line West Hammond, 90 of Kershaw was held at 4 p.m., Tues- day, May 12, 2015, in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The family received friends imme- diately following the service in the ceme- tery. Mrs. Hammond, widow of the late Paul Robert Hammond died Saturday, May 9, at her home. Born in Kershaw, she was a daughter of the late Boyd Howard and Annie Loutee Crow West. She was a faith- ful member of Center Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker. Surviving are three children; Robert Larry Hammond and his wife Rebekah, Linda Hammond Taylor and her husband Jeff and Terry Sherwood Ham- mond and his wife Sharon all of Kershaw; five grandchildren, Meg Wrenn and her husband Will, Liz Joyner and her hus- band Rusty, Grey Tay- lor and his wife Sharon, Allana Phillips and her husband Roddy all of Kershaw and Stella Hammond of Columbia; ten great grandchildren, Talf, Caroline and Ham- mond Wrenn, Victoria, Coleman and Weston Joyner, Audrey and Megan Taylor and Luke and Lydia Phillips; two sisters, Betty West Mahaffey of Kershaw, Mary Ann Byrd of Lancaster and a sister-in-law, Carol B West of Liberty Hill. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Audrey Lane Taylor; a great grandson, Con- ner Ceph Phillips, and a brother, Paul H. West. Rev. Todd Montgomery will offici- ate. Alice died Saturday, May 9, 2015, in Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill. Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Betty McCowan Stone. She had retired from the textile industry. Surviving are three daughters, Wendy Phillips and her hus- band Keith of Ker- shaw, Kim Twitty and her husband Dwayne of Kershaw, April Holder and her hus- band Kevin of Lancast- er; six grandchildren, Joshua Phillips, Timo- thy Phillips, Devin Twitty, Amber Twitty, Alissa Holder and Aaron Holder; a sister, Peggy Payne of Ker- shaw and two special nephews, Jonathan and Jason Payne. VIVIAN ELLIS CAUTHEN KERSHAW – The family held a memorial service celebrating the life of Vivian Ellis Cau- then, 71 of Kershaw, Friday, May 8, 2015, at 1 p.m., in Kershaw Church of God. The Revs. John Wilkes and Quitman Hand officiat- ed. The family received friends in the church Family Life Center one hour prior to the service begin- ning at 12 p.m. noon. Mrs. Cauthen died at her home on Wednesday, May 6. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jack- son and Lela Phillips Ellis. Mrs. Cauthen had retired from Springs Memorial Hos- pital and was a mem- ber of Kershaw Church of God. She loved her dogs and fishing. Surviving are her husband, James “Jimmy” Cauthen; a son, John “Timmy” Stroud (Tammy) of Lancaster; two daugh- ters, Andrea Bass (Bobby) and Karen Baker (Mitchell) both of Kershaw; grandchil- dren, Drew Stroud (Jill), Tyler Stroud, Brittany Bass, Ben- jamin Bass, Jason Baker (Amanda), Kasey Eddings (Josh), and Kristy Baker; four sisters, Iva Mae Bow- ers, Ruth Williams, Bonnie Snipes, and Dianne Sims all of Kershaw. She was predeceased by a great grandson, Austin Cole Baker, sisters, Lib Waites, Vera Lee Lang- ley, and Margie Cony- ers, brothers, L. J. Ellis and Gene Ellis.
