Welcome back, We hope you had a safe and restful winter break. We are very excited to begin a new semester. We will have a busy first week with many activities planned for your students. Each teacher will send home the 9-weeks expectations for the courses your child is taking this semester. These expectation letters describe the curriculum that will be taught, and what students are expected to know and be able to do in order to be successful in each course. The expectation letters are also available on our webpage Simply go to: http://ec.sumterschools.org Then click the “9-weeks expectation letters” link on the left side of the screen. Students enrolled in Economics, US History, English 11, Math 2, and/or Biology will take the ThinkGate/Elements pre-test during the week of January 10-14. These assessments help us identify strengths and weaknesses in learning and help us to individualize instruction for your child. The scores from these tests will be sent home on February 2, 2011. You can meet your child’s 2 nd semester teachers and preview his/her 1 st semester report card. Teachers will be in their classrooms to meet with parents/guardians from 5:30- 7:00pm. We are offering the following EOCT courses this semester: Economics U.S. History English 11 Math 2 Biology Students enrolled in these courses will receive an EOCT study guide packet and will take a series of diagnostic pre & post tests throughout the semester.
