From the Board Mid-Maine Chamber Calendar

Wednesday August 5, 1992 and for the next 25 years, the first Wednes-day in August has meant it was that time of year for friends and families to come together and enjoy the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of Waterville. This year is no different!

A lot of changes have taken place over the years, some small, including a slight name change; and others more signifi-cant as those attending no longer purchase tickets in advance for sit down dining. As August 2nd approaches this year we will see more changes due to the exciting revitalization efforts and construction taking place throughout Main Street. One thing that has not changed over the years, is the unique opportunity that the Taste of Waterville gives to friends and families to meet and enjoy a sampling from some of central Maine’s premier restaurants as well as a day and evening of fun, laughter, enter-tainment, dancing, and so much more. We encourage the community to not only come down at night to enjoy all of the restaurants set up on Main Street, adult beverages in the Beer Garden, live bands in the beer garden at their new home in Castonguay Square but plan to make a trip down during the day as well. The daytime activities kick off at 11 a.m. with many of the activities finding their new home in the Concourse parking lot around Haines Park. Visitors can walk around and enjoy the vendor booths set up by many of our local businesses or take a walk up and down Main Street. I en-courage you to do this if you haven’t in a while; there is a lot more than just construction that is making Main Street in Waterville a place to be and shop! This can all be enjoyed while filling that lunchtime appetite from any of the 13 Bite booths that will be serving food throughout the day beginning at 11 a.m. and enjoying the entertainment that will be performing

in Haines Park. Worried about parking with so much happening? Well, don’t be! There will be plenty of parking available throughout the day at Head of Falls, as well as volunteers to assist those that may need a quick shuttle ride up to all of the excitement.

So, mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 2nd and plan to be a part of Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of Waterville. For more details, including a map, menus, and schedule of performers and activities including something new this year, Food Demos, please visit our website www.tasteofwaterville.com or like our Facebook page and get yourself updates as they happen!

Member Spotlight - Chandler Bay Resources Chandler Bay Resources, es-tablished in 1998, delivers education-al trainings focused on individual health and wellness as well as pro-grams for enhancing clinical skills for mental health clinicians. Although owned by Jeri Stevens PhD, LCPC, she works collaboratively with peers to develop and provide these trainings. Jeri has had a private mental health practice in Waterville since 1986 and been a mental health provider since 1979. Her current primary focus is guid-ing individuals and groups toward being empowered over per-sonal health and wellness. With the current state of health care costs, increased stress and health marketing gimmicks, Jeri and her team have developed a no-nonsense stress resilience and self-care training, The Empowerment Model for Stress Resilience. Do you know that: 60 – 90% of doctor visits are due to stress related issues? 70% of employees are disengaged? The average adult should get 7 to 9 hours of sleep? How many do you get? 90% of health care costs pay for surgical and pharmaceuticals? YOU have control over all of this. Imagine what could happen should you decide to take charge of your own health. What does this really mean? Knowledge is power. The more we understand how stress impacts health, the easier it is to make small meaningful

change. Once change begins, it has a ricochet effect on other life options and opportunities. This training pulls to-gether much of the existing scientific data supporting health and wellness

then brings it home to each participant. Participants have described this training as “life alter-ing,” “incredibly impactful,” “the best ever training,” and “a must for anyone choosing to be in charge of their own life.” The Empowerment Model for Stress Resilience is a 4 hr. training that presents the most current data supporting self-care and its relationship to health and longevity. We have cre-ated a model for exploring the impact of stress and simple steps to becoming resilient. Resiliency is about recovering and making stress your friend. By gaining knowledge about the relationship of stress on the mind, brain and body, participants learn how to make small steps toward stress resilience result-ing in huge outcomes for health, relationships and personal value.

COME LAUGH, LEARN AND LIVE These trainings are offered in your workplace or at selected locations. Upcoming training dates can be found at www.chandlerbayresources.com. To discuss the possibility of Chandler Bay Resources providing a training in your work-place, either call 207-872-7558 or email [email protected]
