Mission Statement

The co-educational Lower School division features a caring yet rigorous environment designed to meet the diverse needs of the Memphis Jewish community and highly attuned to the individual needs of every student. Its innovative curricula and extracurricular programming actively nurture curiosity and creativity, community and camaraderie, while facilitating maximal student learning in a full array of General and Judaic studies.

-Getting to know the students Step one: Ask random questions and have the

students stand up each time if the question describes them (5-10 min)

For example: Are you the oldest in your family? Are you the youngest Do you like chocolate Do you like sports? Step two have students fill out Learner profile

cards: on it students will write down their interests how and what they like to learn etc. ( 3-5 min)

Give an pre assessment of concepts and terms to determine prior

knowledge

Based on the pre assessment you may need to go over with some students the

definition and concept giving them examples while another group will

come up with examples on their own for each term

The class may not see the relevance of Talmud

Give an example of trying to follow directions if they only give you topic

headings without all the detailsOne or two students may have
