GRAZING COWS
10 FINISHED CATTLE
1st Quality Heifers average over £2000, top at
£2250, with eight over £2000!
The mid-month sale produced the hottest
trade for quality freshly calved cows & heifers
we have seen for a considerable time. A good quality entry of fresh calvers met an amazing trade to a large
crowd of buyers. A fantastic overall top price of £2250 was achieved for a heifer calved mid-July yielding 37kgs
selling on behalf of Messrs T.R.D Griffin & Son from North Tamerton, who saw 5 other heifers in the £2000
bracket. His 4th calver topped the cow section at £1900. This good consignment of quality cows & heifers
realised a superb average of £1985. Gary Richards from Helston sold two outstanding pedigree
freshly calved heifers which averaged £1990.
In calf heifers due in September also met with a very fast trade topping at £1620 from Nigel and Helen Colwill,
Launcells who sold a super consignment averaging £1486.
Served & bulling heifers topped at £780 from Messrs JG & SJ Tancock, Callington. A yearling heifer topped at
£520 from PF Cleave, Morwenstow and heifer calves topped at £340 from Mr D. Ellis, St Ives.
Overall a very strong trade was seen throughout the sale with an increased demand for freshly calved quality cows & heifers with buyers looking to produce early autumn milk.
The higher seasonality payments for liquid milk is contributing to this improving trade & more cattle could be
sold to keep up with this present demand.
