WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT

Website Development Package: $3,000 Up to 8 pages Create a Drupal or Wordpress website from the ground up.

Website Revision Hourly Rate: $60/hour Revise existing site without altering the supporting template. Assume 3 hours for home page, 1 hour per additional page.

Mobile Responsiveness Revision: $600 If template can be made to be mobile responsive.      

Website Audit: Review and Recommendations: $200

Copywriting: $50/hour.  

Payment Terms 30% down; 20% at half-way mark; 50% at completion Accounts past 30 days will be subject to a 3% late fee.

WEBSITE MAINTENANCE

Behind the Scenes Maintenance Package: $75/month • Update plugins and website software for WordPress

sites (the ABA provides this for IndieCommerce) • Monthly formatting check & small repair (up to 2 hrs) • One free maintenance request/mo. (half hour or less)

Behind the Scenes Plus Content Package: $250/month • Update plugins and software for WordPress sites • Monthly formatting check & small repair (up to 2 hrs) • One free maintenance request/mo. (up to one hour) • Weekly addition of content to site, including book

images and brand-appropriate headings • Maintain event calendar, adding event listings • One branding-sensitive event feature per week for

placement on homepage

LOGO & BRANDING DEVELOPMENT

Logo Design Branding & Style Sheet: $1,500 • Style sheet with logo, color scheme, and 2 font selections • Grayscale version of logo • Brand Asset Library with multiple formats • Process includes up to six concept images

Branding Plus Start-Up Materials: $1,850

• Branding & Style Sheet Package PLUS: • Business card design • One other printable promotional piece (sticker design,

bookmark or similar design) • Scaled profile and banner images for Facebook & Twitter • All designs provided in print-ready formats

Branding Language Language Development for Business Tagline, Vision Statement, etc.: $75/hour

Payment Terms Within 2 weeks of invoice

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Business Cards: $80

Double-Sided Postcard/Invitation: $125

General Design Work: $80/hour

ELEMENTS OF A CONSISTENT, EYE-POPPING BRAND

When you’re creating your look, be sure to consider not just a logo, but colors, fonts, and language too! Consistency is key. Keep it all together on a consolidated style sheet you can share with your staff. Logo: Text only? Or are you drawn to art? Bold, quirky,

serious, play on words, what’s your style? Colors: Create a color scheme that you use on all of your

materials, whether they are in print or digital. Fonts: You’ll need a header (something bold) and a text font

(some easily readable). And likely a font used just for your logo as well.

Language: You’ll need a tagline (3-6 words), a longer mission statement (1-5 sentences), your story narrative and vision for the store (what drives you? Why are you here?).

 

WEBSITE BEST PRACTICES

No matter what web platform you use, keep it clean, organized, easily browseable, and mobile responsive. And easy to shop! Prioritize: Make your logo loud and proud at the top! Other

information to include at the top: contact information, newsletter sign-ups, social media links, shopping cart, search button, important events.

Organize: Create a site map (just an outline), keeping your menu tabs to 7 or fewer, and with 4 or fewer drop-downs on each tab. Visit other bookstore websites for ideas.

Update: Keep your pages updated with fresh books, events, newsletters, and news! Also, remember to update your plugins.

GRAPHIC DESIGN MUST-HAVES

Booklovers love books, but they also love bookstore bling. Help them help you advertise your shop by offering branded items they would be thrilled to have and show off.

• Bookmarks, bumper stickers, and buttons • Super-soft t-shirts, hats, mugs and totes

Be consistent in your store too, by branding your section signs, shelf readers, and event flyers. Selling off-site? Display your wares on a branded tablecloth! Remember, branding isn’t just about your logo. It’s your colors and fonts, too. Be creative!
