Self - The essential qualities that make a person distinct from all others. Your conduct and discourse reveals yourself to another person. The particular characteristics of your ‘self ’ determines your identity. The bundle theory of self- Man is a bundle/ collection of different perceptions which succeed one another with an inconceivable rapidity and are in perpetual flux and movement - Hume You should be aware • That you exist as an individual, separate from others…• That other people are similarly self-aware.• Recognition of your personality, strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes. • Help recognize when you are under stress/ pressure. • Developing empathy for others.• Helps build your self-esteem and confidence. Self-Awareness makes you know…• Your wishes and desires • Your strengths & weaknesses • What motivates you and makes you happy• What you want to change about yourself / your life• Your achievements so far • How you relate to others and Whether it is socially acceptable or beneficial to you• Why is self-awareness important?• To build your self-esteem and confidence• To live your values and realize your dreams• Make priorities based on what is important to you• To change your way of living• To choose a suitable career which will satisfy you. • To give more of yourself to others • Benefit you and others in relationships •

“Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is enlightenment.” - Tao Tzu

To Know Your “Self ” you can

write Journal/ Diary, can meditate, can find new interest to see what all things you are good at and

analyze your old hobbies to figure out what you are capable of.Whatever is the approach you take it is not important, what is important that you are aware of your SELF. Because if one is not aware of it self the person cannot understand others.

Time Management

What is Time Management? The art of arranging, organizing, scheduling, and budgeting one’s time for the purpose of generating more effective work and productivity is known as Time Management. So, time management involves exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities with a focus to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity.Hence, time management helps an individual to be more organized and more productive. Each and every person from different walks of life can use time management techniques and tools for managing their time better and carrying out their daily chores and activities efficiently and in a relaxed manner. Each and every individual needs time management as Time is of essence to everyone, whether a student, a professional, a daily wage labour or even a home-maker. Time management is needed by everyone and is important for various reasons, such as follows:

Ӻ It is helpful in setting goals Ӻ It helps to take rapid action when opportunities

and crisis arise. Ӻ It helps you to save time. Ӻ It helps you to perform and fulfill all your important activities. Ӻ It helps to plan all your tasks effectively. Ӻ It helps in determining priorities.

There are several benefits of time management, such as follows:

Ӻ Increased productivity Ӻ Less stress Ӻ Increased confidence of fulfilling tasks Ӻ Achievement of goals quickly and easily Ӻ Increased efficiency in fulfilling tasks Ӻ Achievement of greater success, dreams and

visions. The following are the key steps that you need to follow for effective time management:Step 1: Set GoalsThe first step towards managing your time is to ‘Set Goals’. While setting goals, you should always keep in mind that you should set goals that are specific and concrete. Never define vague goals. Also, make sure that you determine and set both long-term goals and short-term ones to support them. Another important thing while setting goals is to also set a deadline for your goals. Step 2: Develop a ScheduleThe next step after you have set goals for yourself is to develop and plan out a schedule. Initially, planning may seem a hard task, however, with practice it would become the easier and more natural. There are a few considerations that you need to keep in mind while developing a schedule. Hence, while making a schedule, ask yourself these questions:

Ӻ What goals do I expect to accomplish?

Ӻ What approach do I need to adopt to reach these goals?

Ӻ What tasks are more important than others? Ӻ How much time will each task require?

The following are the steps to develop or plan a schedule:

Ӻ Prioritize all the tasks in the order in which they need to get completed.

Ӻ After you have set the priorities, you should set up a planned calendar by developing a proper schedule.

Ӻ You should then highlight all important milestones and project due dates. Step 3: Revisit and Revise Your PlanNow, you know the goals that you want to reach and you have developed a planned schedule

to reach those goals. The next crucial step in time management is to check whether the plan is working and check

how you are actually using your time. This step will help you identify the deviance between your planned schedule and your actual followed schedule. You need to then alter your schedule or your actions and revise your plan for better time management.

There are a few considerations that you need to keep in mind while revisiting and checking your plan. Thus, revisit and revise your plan by taking into considerations the following aspects:

Ӻ Are you making progress? Ӻ Did your energy level match the required

energy level for the designated tasks? Ӻ Do you need to make any changes to your

weekly schedule?

Solid waste Management

Non-liquid, non-soluble materials ranging from municipal garbage to industrial wastes that contain complex and sometimes hazardous substances. And Waste management is all those activities and action required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal.[1] This includes amongst other things, collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste together with monitoring and regulation. It also encompasses the legal and regulatory framework that relates to waste management encompassing guidance on recycling etc.The term Solid Waste Management usually relates to all kinds of waste, whether generated during the extraction of raw materials, the processing of raw materials into intermediate and final products, the consumption of final products, or other human activities, including municipal (residential, institutional, commercial), agricultural, and special (health care, household hazardous wastes, sewage sludge). Waste management is intended to reduce adverse effects of waste on health, the environment or aesthetics.Waste management practices are not uniform among countries (developed and developing nations); regions (urban and rural area), and sectors (residential and industrial). The management of solid waste typically involves its collection, transport, processing and recycling or disposal. Cycle of waste management Monitoring is identifying the waste management needs, identifying recycling opportunities and ways to minimize waste output, and reviewing how waste minimization is progressing. Through keeping records of the different waste streams, a customer can see the results of their efforts in becoming more environmentally friendly, and a more efficient business. Collection involves the logistical organization to guarantee that bin containers will not overfill and waste sit time does not become too long. The correct bin container size and service frequency is a must to prevent overspill or excessive smell. The correct bins for different wastes must be available with sticker and bin colour identification.Transportation is the organizing of waste transport vehicles with the authorization and ability to transport the specified wastes from a customer’s work residence to landfill or processing plant. A waste must be transported by the vehicle designed for it. For example, general waste requires a vehicle with thicker compacter walls, to that of a cardboard and paper waste transporting vehicle. Therefore, a customer may require a series of vehicles to meet their waste management needs. Processing involves the separation of recyclables for treatment, and then after treatment are packaged as raw materials. These raw materials are sent to factories for production. Non-recyclable wastes by-pass this step and are delivered straight to landfill. Hazardous wastes are delivered to treatment plants to become less hazardous to the public and environment. Disposal / Recycling is the disposal of non-recyclables into landfill. Landfill sites must be approved by legal authorities. Legal authorities guarantee that specific wastes are buried at the correct depth to avoid hazardous chemicals entering the soil, water tables, water systems, air, and pipe systems. In this step the raw materials made from recyclables are produced and sold as products on the market. Companies can purchase such products to further sustain the environment and natural resources. In conclusion, waste management is a science that addresses the logistics, environmental impact, social responsibility, and cost of an organization’s waste disposal. It is a detailed process that involves human resources, vehicles, government bodies, and natural resources.
