POETRY PROJECTS #1: Poetry Booklet
Pick one theme (for example; dogs), and write 4 original poems about this theme.
Your booklet should have a colorful, labeled cover. Each poem should have a cover page, with a title. You should also include a Table of Contents listing the poem title and the type of poem. Your entire booklet should be neatly done and include pictures. *This booklet will count as 2 test grades.
You need to include the following:1) 1 lyric poem2) 1 narrative poem3) 1 cinquain (see example )4) and 1 poem from the choices below:

Poetry Project Rubric
Projects will be graded using the following criteria:
1. Poetic Form (following the correct form of the poem)
2. Poetic Techniques (rhyme, rhythm, similes, metaphors, personification, onomatopoeia, alliteration…etc.)
3. Word Usage (vivid language)4. Language conventions (spelling,
grammar, punctuation)5. Creativity6. Organization/ Procedure / Following
directed format7. Effort (points will be awarded)8. Turned in on time
I will use the following evaluation scale:
12.5 = Exemplary (12.5 X 8 criteria = 100)10 = Accomplished9 = Developing7.5 = Beginning
#2: Poetry Slam
1. Choose one of the original poems you wrote.
2. You will be expected to share this poem with your classmates.
3. You do not have to memorize it, but you should be comfortable enough that you are not directly reading from a paper.
4. *This presentation will count as 2 test grades.
