Trespass Music Monday Presents Chuck Williams and Michael Troy at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Trespass Music Monday presents Chuck Williams and Michael Troy on Monday, June 22, at 7:30 PM at Cotuit Center for the Arts.

Singer/songwriter Chuck Williams has performed at coffeehouses, performing arts centers, and festivals from coast to coast and throughout New England. Raised in Toledo, Ohio, he spent much of his adult life in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, moving to Cape Cod in 2002.

His songs are rooted in the American folk-rock tradition and reflect his journeys and the emotions of everyday experiences. Williams has been praised for his “strong songs and keen delivery” and his “tight and lucid” playing.

Williams has been nominated for and has won numerous singer/songwriter and folk music awards in New England and has released two CDs, “Smart Too Late, Old Too Soon” (2006) and “Lightning in a Bottle” (2010). He has opened for such national touring artists as Jimmy LeFave, Steve Forbert, Cheryl Wheeler, Rod Mac Donald, Pegi Young and the Survivors. He has performed at the Boston Folk Festival, the Boston Music Festival, New Bedford Summerfest, Sustainable Living Festival, Newport Arts Festival, Riversing (Rhode Island), and the Utica (NY) Music and Arts Festival.

Michael Troy, a native of Fall River and current resident of Somerset, plays his own original blend of folk and bluegrass music. He has released three CDs, “Whispers in the Wind” (2002), “Romancing the Moon” (2004), and “Mill Town Boy” (2009).

Dave Palmater of WUMB writes in his liner notes to “Mill Town Boy,” “You believe every word of it every line of every song. That’s because Michael has seen it, done it, been it. His songs are about real people who have real lives….He is a rare writer who create poetry that sounds like speech….Michael is also a rare composer who writes melodies that sound like the people whose songs they carry.”

Troy has won many awards for his music writing, including the 2004 Boston Folk Music Festival Songwriter’s Contest, the 2007 New England Songwriting Contest, and the 2010 Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Contest.

Doors open at 7 PM. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. All donations are split among the performers; both Cotuit Center for the Arts and Trespass Music donate their time and location to help support homegrown music.
