2018 SPRING WHITMAN INTERNSHIP GRANT

*** Deadline: Sunday, December 10th at noon ***

PROGRAM OUTLINE AND REQUIREMENTS

Grant applicants must complete paperwork for student employment at Whitman College. You can

submit the required forms (W-4 and I-9) at the Human Resources Office. Visit Memorial Building 104

or call 509-527-5172 for more information.

Any Whitman student who will be enrolled at Whitman during the Spring 2018 semester is eligible to

participate. This application is not for international students.

Students must be in good academic and conduct standing with the college.

Internships need to be high-impact, academically and professionally relevant experiences at non-profit

and public agencies in Walla Walla Valley.

To qualify for the $11.50/h grant, the internship must be unpaid. (Standard deductions will be

withheld).

The internship must last through the majority of the Spring 2018 semester, starting January 19th 2018.

Students must work 70 hours for the semester.

If awarded a grant, students are considered an employee of the college and cannot take another position at

Whitman that exceeds 10 hours of work per week. Combined, a funded internship and on-campus

employment cannot exceed 20 hours of work per week.

We fund internships on a competitive basis. We especially encourage applications from students who have

not received an internship grant before. If you have already received two SEC-funded Semester WIGs,

your application cannot be considered for funding this time.

The SEC will announce grant recipients no later than December 16th 2017.

No late or incomplete materials will be accepted. Applications from students who have not

submitted their paperwork to the HR office before December 10th will not be accepted.
