1. Welcome and introductions, including updates from members Actions/InformationLynn thanked all for coming and welcomed new members. She thanks YKids for the use of the Café and the refreshments.

As there were several people present who were new to the Network, it was agreed to take Members Updates as the first item, as a way of everyone introducing themselves.

Lynn, Sefton CVS - Lynn is the Children & Young People’s Mental Health Services Coordinator, with the responsibility of chairing the Network, coordinating the Sefton Emotional Achievement Service (SEAS) partnership, which delivers emotional health and wellbeing services, and representing the Sector on the Children & Young People’s Emotional Health and Wellbeing Steering Group.

Joanne, LCH – Jo is leaving her post at LCH this month and will be setting up to deliver Mindfulness in Schools training after qualifying as a Practitioner. The training she did was .b, targeted at health professionals and teachers primarily, for delivery to groups of young people aged 10 to 18. Jo circulated a session plan for one of the lessons. See the website for further information https://mindfulnessinschools.org/what-is-b/b-curriculum/

Adele, SEN & Inclusion Policy Development Officer – Adele works with young people and their families to ensure they know what support they’re entitled to. She’s currently looking at creating animated films about the different types of support available for young people with special educational needs and disabilities and she’d like to involve as

1

many young people as possible to do voice-overs. She is setting up a group of young representatives from the 5 special schools and primary and secondary schools. If anyone knows any young people who would be interested in getting involved in either of these things, please contact Adele at [email protected] or telephone 0151 934 2296.

Catherine, Specialist School Nurse, Emotional Health & Wellbeing – Catherine is currently delivering Self-Harm & Suicide Mitigation training to school nurses across Sefton to ensure they are better equipped to deal with issues in schools.

Georgina, Venus – Venus work with women and families and are delivering emotional health and wellbeing services and skilling up their workforce as part of the CYP IAPT programme (see below). Venus are in partnership with YKids to deliver services from the old Orrell Library. They will be delivering counselling, family therapy, peer support, mindfulness and, hopefully, a young person’s mental health drop-in service.

Paul and Stacie, MYA Talent Match – Paul leads on employability on the Mentoring project and Stacie is an Apprentice Mentor, working on the residentials and emotional support. Further information on Talent Match is attached, along with a referral form.

Anita, Chris and Michelle, Fillies Girls Football Club – Fillies is much more than a football club, they aim to improve the health and quality of life of the girls and young women they work with. They have links into CAMHS, children’s social care and their local schools.

Jennie, Well Young Person Team – Well YP work in partnership with Sefton schools and other services to provide support to children and young people who have poor mental health or poor emotional wellbeing. They are currently delivering the Arrivals course and a young women’s course. Jennie had brought 3 young people along to the meeting – Amy, Nathanial & Rhys.

Trudy, Forefield Primary School – Trudy comes along to the meetings as she finds it a valuable networking tool as well as a great way of hearing about the services on offer for children in Sefton

Clare, YKids – deliver youth work and community work, mainly in Bootle. They also run 2 social enterprise cafés – North Perk and the Life Rooms in the old Walton Library. Employees in North Perk come in as apprentices and are mentored into permanent work. 60% have gone on to management positions. The Life Rooms is run with Merseycare’s Recovery College. YKids are running a Scarecrow competition in North Park on 8th October between 12 and 3pm. There will be prizes and trophies for the winners and group or individual entries are welcomed. See their Facebook page for further details https://www.facebook.com/events/1650098315282250/

Vicky, Alder Hey Sefton CAMHS – Sefton CAMHS offer a Single Point of Access (SPA), Primary Mental Health Team, Specialist Team, and urgent response and assessment. They work in partnership with wider CAMHS across Sefton.

2. Notes of last meetingNotes of previous meetings are available on the Network webpage at https://seftoncvs.org.uk/areas-of-work/cypf/children-young-peoples-emotional-health-wellbeing-network/ but last month’s meetings aren’t available yet. Matters arising from the July and this meeting will be taken at our next meeting.3. CYP IAPT updateThe Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) is a service transformation programme delivered by NHS England that aims to improve existing Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) working in the community. Programme members in Sefton are:Venus, Well YP, ADHD Foundation and Alder Hey CAMHS.Item carried forward to next meeting.4. Topic: Technology and Mental HealthVicky Killen introduced the agenda item, explaining that technology plays an important part in young people’s lives, positively and negatively, and is starting to be used more in the field of mental health. She said the intention today was to generate feedback on what is available and people’s experience of it, and what would be useful in our areas of work. The room split into 3 groups, with a young person in each, and were asked to discuss: What has worked well for emotional health and wellbeing in schools and

elsewhere? What would we like to be available in the future?(See attached notes from flipcharts). The conclusions were that there are already good examples of technology being used to improve emotional health and wellbeing, particularly in blended approaches, using online and face to face therapies. Within Sefton, people would like to see more support available online, with links from school websites. A central directory of available services would be useful but there are concerns over who would police the quality of the services. The Sefton Local Offer/ Sefton Directory and VCF Direct are already available and Liz Barr could be invited to a future meeting to discuss the Local Offer. It would be good to have a shared pool of resources and reviews of services.

5. Discussion: Links with educationItem carried forward to next meeting.
