SPECIAL NOTES!

GHC One Last Potluck!

There will be one more potluck gathering from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on:

Monday Apr 9** Special Note: For Monday night we must all bring our own dishes, cutlery and cups - we can’t use the dishwasher at The Unitarian Church in Saanich

These potlucks, held every season, are a tradition in the choir that allows us to get to know each other better.

Please bring a tasty dish to share and your own plate, cup and cutlery. An ingredients sign would be helpful for those with dietary considerations and perhaps a name label in case someone wants to get your recipe from you.

All choir members are welcome at all potlucks. Come and enjoy!

Editor’s Note: For an advance look at lyrics for the graces we tend to sing at potlucks (plus those for the choirs birthday song) please click here.

CCLT Grad Update

Cari Burdette ~ CCLT3 - 2006/7 Duncan & Cowichan Valley

I will be starting a brand new session of 9 classes of Parent and Child Music and Movement on Wednesday April 11th. I adore leading this class, for mothers, grandparents and children, babes in arms to approx 6/7 depending on the child. I have been offering this class for about 13 years and love it. The songs would be about Spring and Summer, May Fest, butterflies, and silly frogs wanting to swim. It's lots of fun, a wonderful way to meet other families and a nourishing simple way to connect with your child.

The magic is when the children start singing the songs at home with you.... it's lovely... a true gift to sing with your children.

www.joythroughmusic.com

Let me know if you are interested and if you have any questions… [email protected] Looking forward to making music with some of you.

Warmly,

Cari Burdett

Deep Singing

Join us at the Church of Truth -- Saturday, April 14th for an afternoon and evening with Helen Bee of the Indralaya Centre on Orcas Island. She will lead us in "Deep Singing” a form of meditative and joyful song using rounds, chants and simple harmonies combined with silence. A potluck dinner will be served.

For more details, contact [email protected]

The schedule for Deep Singing is:

2:30 doors open (pay for event at front desk, set up etc.) 3:00-5:00 singing 5:00-7:00 potluck dinner, clean up 7:00-9:00 singing

The way it usually works is that if someone comes late, they just wait for a break after the meditation at the end of each song and slip in quietly. I can request Helen have a short bathroom break at 4:00.  Those who come

late can pay at the dinner break. I hope this works for those who come to both events.

A Fanatic Heart: Bob Geldof on W B Yeats

I watched this movie on the Knowledge Network.  It is a fascinating description about Yeats and Ireland.  I'm not a scholar so can't vouch for any "correctness" but I think if you have enjoyed the songs of poems by Yeats that Denis has brought to the choir, you will enjoy this.

It is still available until April 11th on their site, so act quickly if you are interested.
