From the Principal

Remembrance Day

Once again our students engaged in Remembrance Day last week, reconnecting with an Australian tradition. This year we highlighted the contributions of Indigenous service people. Our new Music Specialist, Mrs O’Sullivan, put together a terrific assembly.

Online Safety

The City of Kalamunda is supporting a free seminar for parents on Raising Children in a Digital World. I strongly recommend this seminar for parents. Details inside this newsletter. Bookings are essential. Email: [email protected]  with your name, contact number and postcode to receive the Zoom link.

The E-Safety Commissioner runs webinars for parents and carers. Early next term the webinar topic is cyberbullying and online drama. Visit: esafety.gov.au/parents/webinars to find more information.

Planning for 2021

We are currently enrolling students for 2021 and know that, sadly, some families are leaving us through work or housing changes. If you are planning to move house, or not returning in the first week of school, please let us know.

Parents wanting a particular arrangement for 2021 (ie their child with a particular friend) can email me using the subject 2021 Request. All requests will be considered but can not necessarily be granted.

Lockdown Drill

We held a lockdown drill last week as per our risk management policy. It went very well. Drills like this are designed to ensure our safety. As such, however, we are unable to notify our community in advance.

End of Year and Covid

We are still under restrictions due to Covid 19. There are guidelines for all schools regarding crowds and gatherings and social distancing. I will continue to update families as we go. We will all need to be a little flexible this year.

Stay Safe and Healthy

This morning tea is to acknowledge parents and carers who have volunteered in some capacity during the year.

Please reply to the office by Tuesday 8th December and I hope to see you there.

Rahni from Room 12 came in third place in the Art Competition at the Canning Show last weekend. “I worked on my winning piece for about an hour, but I did about six different entries. I chose the eye because mum said it was the best. I drew the eye piece twice and the second try was better. I used charcoal to draw the piece, and it was one of my favourites out of all of my entries. Next year I want to enter more pieces using different mediums.”
