Toxic Cheer Information Toxic Cheerleading in Port Kennedy was created and founded by Joshua Coker in October 2012.

Since opening Toxic has won many States/National and International titles including 4 bids in consecutive years to the Cheerleading and Dance World Championships held in Orlando, Florida.

We offer the most exciting Cheer and Dance program in WA. You will find the program to be well rounded, positive and fun. We have classes from beginner to experienced and highly competitive squads so there will be a class tailored to your individual needs. We also have highly professional and experienced coaches to help you with you/or your child’s needs. All our coaches are fully credentialed with USASF. Toxic Cheer and Dance is the only club in Western Australia that trains athletes to World Championship level in both Cheerleading and Dancing.

Our Goal is to give each individual student an experience of a lifetime helping develop the skills necessary to advance in the sport of competitive cheerleading and dance. We also strive to develop self-discipline, confidence, self-esteem and teamwork to become successful within everyday life as well as cheerleading.

Our program is designed to develop the overall athlete from the beginning stages through to elite status. Through participation in a quality program, athletes can improve strength, flexibility, balance and overall coordination.

Cheerleading has become the fastest growing sport in the world. At Toxic we also offer a variety of other classes such as Poms, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary and Tumbling

Definitions of GenresWhat is Cheerleading?

Cheerleading is almost always recognised for the movie “Bring it On” where you watch young girls and boys competing in a fast paced, dynamic sport that involves stunts, tumbling and dance encompassed in a routine. Cheerleading requires dedication, commitment and a willingness to learn new things.

What is Hip-Hop?

Hip Hop is referred to as street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music or that have evolved as part of a hip hop culture. It includes a wide variety of styles including locking and popping which were created in the 70’s

What is Poms?

Poms incorporate mainly dance using methods such as kick lines, turns and leaps. A kick line is a routine of kicks performed in synchronisation.

What is Jazz?

Jazz is a form of modern dance which is heavily influenced by the sounds of rhythms and techniques of jazz music. This dance is highly individual and has an emphasis on showcasing individual skills and most jazz dancers often can work with improvisation.

What is Contemporary?

Contemporary dance is a dance performance genre that developed during the mid-twentieth century and has since grown to be one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world. It’s a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres.

What is Tumbling?

Tumbling is any gymnastic skill that can be used in cheer and dance or for crowd appeal. Tumbling can be done as an individual or as a group in unison. Tumbling skills can include skills like flicks, twists etc.

What is Lyrical?

Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion.

What is Acrobatics?

Acrobatics is is the performance of extraordinary feats of balance, agility, and motor coordination. This class also covers aerial work and flexibility

Toxic Cheer and Dance Fee Structure 2018

Toxic Cheer and Dance are pleased to offer two options for our fee structure in 2018 - Direct debit - Annual payment in full prior to first week of training (which will receive 10% discount excluding $15.00 Classes).

Attached at the back of the handbook is our payment plan breakdown which one of the staff will be able to work out your personalised weekly, fortnightly or monthly direct debit.Please note that term fees will run by the price per hour below and be divided into your payment plan.

1 Hour: $150.00 +GST

2 Hours: $270.00 +GST

3 Hours: $380.00 +GST

4 Hours: $440.00 +GST

5 Hours: $500.00 +GST

6 Hours: $560.00 +GST

7+ Hours: $620.00 +GST

Weapons: $635.00 +GST

Once an athlete trains for more than 7 hours per week they are at capped fees. This Capped amount will allow the athlete to participate in:

1x Cheer Team & Team Tumble Class

1 x Each Dance Genres

1x Stretch Class

Ballet

Technique Class

Athletes are welcome to enrol into additional classes however the cost associated with this will be based on the payment plan breakdown. The Cap does not include private lessons, extra additional training with external coaches or holiday training.

Toxic Cheer and Dance also reserve the right to close any classes that have limited students throughout the year. Toxic Cheer and Dance also reserve the right to begin new classes throughout the year.

New Competition Uniform - $250.00-$400.00 +GST - Price varies depending on team. No uniform will be ordered until payment has been received in full.

Toxic Cheer Jacket – Price to be confirmed - COMPULSORY for all competitive athletes at Toxic Cheer.

A list of all Toxic athletes will be held at the front desk at Toxic PK so that names are able to be marked off as jackets are purchased through Term 1. All names that are not marked off through Term 1 will be invoiced in Term 2.

Travelling: Travelling teams will be notified before tryouts begin where you will be given a contract with all the financial obligations involved.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are either run through your personal direct debit or can be purchased in a 5 week Lesson Card at your request and the Coaches availability, this card must be signed by the coach and returned to the Accounts Department before the Coach will be paid. If you do not have a card you will not receive a private lesson.

Attached at the back of the handbook is a payment plan breakdown for private lessons.It is an additional $30.00 + GST per week added to your direct debit to have a secured spot for the entire 2018 season.This gives you 40 lessons throughout the 48 weeks of training with a Senior Coach.

Please note as part of a team you are required at ALL competitions that your team has been placed in. These are compulsory for recreational and competitive teams. Please note Acrobatics class and Tumble classes are non-competitive if just doing these.

NEW VENUE! Toxic Cheer Camp is the biggest and most experienced Cheer Camp in Western Australia with two full size floors, Tumble equipment/air track and 5 international coaches!!!

Toxic has been running an annual Cheer Camp for 4 years now and Camp is a highlight for all cheer athletes for the year. Cheer Camp has been put in place to help each athlete and their team gain the necessary skills leading into competition season.

A quick rundown of camp is the athletes will have an arrival time at Serpentine Camp Centre.Food is provided while on camp and all athletes receive a camp bag, t-shirt and bow. Cheer camp has so many different elements to it whilst learning choreography, stunts and tumbling, They will also take part in several team and club building games which helps bring everyone together and in the past this has brought athletes from all 3 gyms together to form unforgettable memories.

Please note that cheer camp is compulsory for all cheer teams listed above as this is a team sport and everyone's attendance is vital to ensure that all teams at camp can work to their full potential and to help towards making the 2018 competition season the success we have had in the past.

Payment for camp is included in your direct debit automatically securing your child's spot on camp, please note this nonadjustable. More information will follow in 2018 about what your child will need to bring and finalised prices.

We look forward to this being another unforgettable experience!

Rules and Regulations:1. Only registered athletes are allowed in the practice area. 2. Siblings, family members, friends, etc. are not allowed in the practice area. 3. All spectators must remain in the designated area and keep the noise level down at all times. 4. Any person that disrupts a practice will be asked to leave the gym immediately. 5. No food or gum is permitted in the practice area. 6. All trash must be disposed in the appropriate rubbish bins. 7. Mobile phones must be put on silent mode and in the mobile phone boxes provided in every gym/room.8. Toxic Cheer & Dance is not responsible for any personal items lost or stolen. 9. Toxic Cheer & Dance E-mails and facebook groups must be checked for any and all updates. 10. All forms or information needed by Toxic Cheer & Dance must be completed and handed to the Toxic Cheer & Dance staff as requested. 11. Josh must approve any privately monogrammed clothing bearing the Toxic Cheer & Dance name. Anything created without approval will not be acceptable to wear. 12. All choreography including cheers, dances, stunts, transitions, tumbling, music selections, editing, etc. should be highly protected and shall not be shown or discussed with others, this includes non-cheerleaders and school friends. 13. Cheerleaders should not practice or teach cheerleading skills to non-cheerleaders at school or outside of cheerleading; it can be dangerous sport and should be supervised by a qualified instructor. NO VIDEOS of routines/choreography should be uploaded to any online site such as YOUTUBE or FACEBOOK! Until after the routine has been used for competitions. 14. Solo’s and Duo’s are by invitation only, if the athlete is not in a team there will be no private lessons offered.

TEAMS

Toxic Cheer & Dance retains the right to: 1. Place its athletes on the team(s) it feels will best suit them and the program. 2. Move, replace, add, suspend, or even dismiss an athlete for a period of time or indefinitely from a team or the entire program based on criteria including but not limited to: A. Attendance B. Conduct C. Skills D. Finances 3. Decide if an athlete may participate on more than one team restricted to the Fee regime 2017.4. Decide the roles and/or positions an athlete will have/play on their team(s). (E.g. base, flyer, back spot, tumbler, dancer, alternate, etc.) 5. Request that an athlete or team take additional classes or camps to improve their skills. 6. Request that an athlete or team practice longer than their regularly scheduled time or add additional practices, camps, or competitions if deemed necessary.

Athletes that elect to participate on more than one Toxic Cheer & Dance team must: 1. Be willing and able to fulfil all the responsibilities required by each team. 2. Be responsible for any additional entry fees they incur beyond their first team.

CHANGING OR TERMINATING TUITION

1. Toxic Cheer & Dance must be informed in writing if you are wanting to change or terminate 1 or all classes. If we are not notified we will carry on invoicing the athletes. 2. Any changes to your time table needs to be made before each term starts. No midterm changes will be allowed. 3. Termination of tuition midterm; will be charged for the full term price no matter how many lessons have been attended.

DRESS CODE

All athletes must: 1. Maintain a well-groomed appearance and good personal hygiene at all times. 2. Hair must be high slick pony out of the athletes face neat and tidy at all times. 3. Nails must be kept shorter than fingertips when participating in any physical activity, NO acrylic nails are permitted on the practice floors.4. No jewellery (other than approved medical ID tags) is allowed when wearing any Toxic Cheer & Dance, practice, warm up or competition uniform, including earrings, tongue piercings and belly piercings.5. Sandals, Thongs, Uggboots or open-toed shoes are not allowed when wearing a Toxic Cheer & Dance competition uniform.

6. There are to be NO dressing gowns worn in any gym. 7. No athlete, parent, guardian affiliated with Toxic Cheer and Dance will wear any uniforms, apparel or training gear in an establishment which restricts 18yrs and under entry and consume alcohol or any other restricted substance.

COMPETITION DRESS CODE

From the time you arrive at competition to the time you leave you are to abide by the rules as follows. 1. At competitions, all athletes must be in full competition uniforms including, top, skirt, bow, shoes & Spankies. 2. All Competitors will wear the Toxic Cheer and Dance Jacket to ALL competitions3. All mid drifts will be covered at all times except when in the practice warm up / competing area.4. Coloured nail polish & Jewellery must be removed. 5. All non-uniform items such as sunglasses, cell phones and iPods must be put away. 6. Any braces or tape needed to perform must be supplied by the athlete and put on before the team takes the warm up mat.

After competing: 1. Athletes may only change into Toxic Cheer & Dance Apparel. 2. No skirts may be worn over warm up pants. 3. Socks and sneakers must be worn at all times. During awards ceremonies, athletes must be in full competition uniform and may not wear bags, warm ups or any other items. 4. No tights or leggings to be worn under skirts.

SPORTSMANSHIP/CONDUCT

All athletes AND Parents must always 1. Set a positive example for others to follow and be respectful and courteous to other team and everyone even if they are not to you 2, Refrain from gossiping or any form of verbal or physical confrontation3. Refrain from celebrating the misfortune or defeat of another person, team, or program4. Accept team placements and awards with dignity and class

HEALTH

All athletes must: 2. Inform Toxic Cheer & Dance of all medical conditions that may limit or prevent their ability to participate in any Toxic Cheer & Dance activities. 3. Notify Toxic Cheer & Dance of any injuries sustained as a result of their participation in any sanctioned Toxic Cheer & Dance activity.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

All athletes & parents must understand: 1. Tuition does not fluctuate based on the number or duration of practices in any term. 2. Holidays and time off has already been prorated into the term fees. 3. Tuition pays for training only not for the right to perform. 4. They assume full responsibility for all costs incurred as a member of Toxic Cheer & Dance including, but not limited to: Term tuition, practice outfits, uniforms or any other item(s), competition and travel expenses such as flight, bus or hotel. 5. All payment due dates must be met. Payment plans are available but must be arranged before the due date of the invoice. 6. A $35.00 late fee will be assessed in the event that a payment is past due 14 days. 7. Toxic Cheer & Dance reserves the right to remove an athlete from their team at any time for failure to keep up with financial obligations. 8. Any monies received from an athlete/parent will be applied first to any overdue tuition/fees, up to and including travel.9. All tuition/fees must be current before an athlete may collect any clothing/uniform and other retail items or compete in any competitions. 10. If an athlete chooses to leave Toxic Cheer & Dance before term has ended the term payment are non-refundable. 11. Toxic Cheer & Dance reserves the right to turn over all delinquent accounts to a collections agency and the parent/athlete will be responsible for all additional costs.
