8TH JUNE 2020 SPAG WEEK 2 Sunflower Room

The zoo’s vet day

It was another bright and sunny day for Vic the vet. He loved been a vet and meeting all the different animals.

This week he had a very busy day he had to go to the zoo to see all the sick animals and make them better.

He put on his uniform and filled his bag with bandages, medicine, tablets and creams everything he might need to make the animals feel better.

His week started with an appointment with Gerald the giraffe.

What could be wrong with the giraffe?

Monday morning Gerald woke up with a sore throat and as you can imagine a sore throat for a giraffe was very very sore. This made Gerald sad. Vic had to take Gerald’s temperature to make sure he wasn’t too hot. He gave Gerald a scarf to make his neck feel cozy but most importantly he gave him some medicine that would help his throat and stop it from being sore.

Vic went home and had a nice shower and some tea before setting his alarm to go back to the zoo the next day.

Who do you think he will see tomorrow?

The alarm went off and Vic got out of bed, washed his face and brushed his teeth. He looked at his diary, Mmmm today off to the zoo again to see……….

Tuesday at the zoo was Freddie the flamingo’s turn to be seen, he had flown into a tree and injured his wing. “Oh dear” said Vic “you need to be more careful”. He checked Freddie’s wing to see what he could do.

What do you think Freddie will need?

“Hold still” said Vic I just need to but your wing in a sling. Freddie stayed very still and was soon back with his friends in the water.

Vic cleaned up his room and asked who needed to see him tomorrow, Can you guess who it might be?

Vic went home and showered had his tea and went to bed.

The next morning it was rainy, Vic had to wear his wellies to the zoo.

Wednesday at the zoo he was met with Karl the Chameleon, he was a little dehydrated, he hadn’t been drinking enough water in his hot room.

Vic gave Karl……… a cold cloth and a drink of water, soon Karl was feeling much better and changing colour to match his surroundings again. Vic made sure he got back to his room and visited to other animals in the zoo, Gary the Gorilla, Chris the crocodile, Sammy the snake. Sammy had told him to come and see Ellie tomorrow he keeps making lots of noise.

What could Ellie be and what might be wrong?

Vic couldn’t wait to see Ellie. Home he went.

Thursday morning Vic was up bright and early to go to the zoo to see Ellie. Ellie was a massive elephant who had got a cold. Oh dear said Vic, Vic gave Ellie some tablets and told her to drink lots of water and get some rest. Ellie sneezed everywhere, Vic was covered in the sneeze. He went home for a shower he ate his tea and went to bed.

Friday came and Vic was wondering what today would hold. When he got to the zoo he could hear lots of loud growling and whimpering. What a noise said vic. It was Tina the tiger, she had a splinter in her paw.

What can Vic do? How do you think Tina is feeling?

Vic took out his tweezers and gently pulled out the piece of wood from her paw. He put a plaster on her paw and she started to purr like a little pussy cat.

Phew! Said Vic I’m glad that’s over.

Why is he glad that’s over?

What a busy week Vic has had I wonder what he will do Tomorrow. What day will it be tomorrow?

Saturday Came and Vic tried to get out of bed, he didn’t feel very good. He went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, Oh dear thought Vic, He was covered in red spots and wasn’t very well. Vic called the Zoo to tell then he could come in today and he spent the day in bed.
