Announcing: The Young Coneys News Network Coney are proud to present The Young Coneys News Network - a bi-weekly news bulletin masterminded by a group of 7-13 year old change-makers in lockdown. The Young Coneys are a group of young people from Tower Hamlets who make play to spark change for others, especially grown-ups. They’re offered a rolling education in play, giving them the opportunity to nurture their individual superpowers and use their creativity to change the world. We usually meet the Young Coneys regularly in workshops led by expert artists and makers, developing their creative skills and specialisms. Through these workshops, they tell us what they think about the world – as the future voices of Coney, heard now. During this period of lockdown, we’re continuing to offer this, but we’ve been meeting them on ZOOM, Youtube Live and Whatsapp to set them creative tasks in order to build their next project from home. Watch the Young Coneys News Network for some good news stories, hard-hitting interviews with household objects, big thank yous to our key workers and living room sports commentary. You can access the Young Coneys News Network via Youtube: Episode 1 , Episode 2 , Episode 3 . Testimonials on The Young Coneys previous work:

“Coney is very special to us because they do seriously bonkers stuff brilliantly! The team members are brilliant with children. (Our daughter is selective mute due to anxiety issues and doesn’t talk at school). The way the Coney team talk to her is amazing, they’re really kind, genuinely interested and really listen to her ideas and opinions. Coney has given her a chance to do something just for her and given her opportunities she will always remember…” - Ursula, parent of Bo

“Without the brave, creative and dedicated kids from the Young Coneys we literally could not have produced this piece…it was the Young Coneys who brought it to life, their one-liners were gold, their input and involvement gave the piece an authenticity that it would never have achieved without them. And they warmed even the coldest of climate criminal's hearts with their charming and disarming delivery - no small feat!” - Hannah Davey, Arts & Action, Greenpeace, Codename: Violet

About Coney

Coney are interactive theatre-makers. We create games, adventures and play where people can choose to take a meaningful part. Our work takes place anywhere that people gather: in theatres, schools, museums, on the streets and online and always follows the principles of adventure, curiosity and loveliness.

The Young Coneys are Coney’s resident young company, a brilliant group of 7-13 year old makers using their creativity to spark change through play. They are a crackly and creative group of 44 local young change-makers. They’re offered a rolling education in play, giving them the opportunity to nurture their individual superpowers and use their creativity to change the world. Through workshops, trips and one-off projects, they tell us what they think about the world – as the future voices of Coney, heard now.
