Clay Assistant Principal Alvin Garabold Dean of Students September 28, 2020 Dear Parents, Our coaching staff for the upcoming sports at Jefferson Elementary School is Chad Comeaux, Head Football Coach and Athletic Director, and Amy Denny, Head Volleyball Coach. The new Jefferson Elementary School location is the formerly Riverdale Middle School campus located at 3900 Jefferson Highway. The changes of this school year has resulted in the new Jefferson Elementary providing sports in Football, Volleyball, Boys and Girls’ Basketball, Boys and Girls’ Soccer, Baseball, Softball and Cheerleading/Flag Team for 6 th through 8 th grade students who attend Harahan Elementary, Hazel Park Elementary, and Ella Dolhonde Elementary, and as well as Jefferson Elementary. Participation on these teams will consist of tryouts, guidelines for good academic standing and guidelines for appropriate discipline behavior. All tryouts for each sport and team practices, if your child makes the team, will take place at Jefferson Elementary after school. A hub bus will provide transportation from their base school. Due to this time lapse of transportation, some practices and games will possibly go beyond 6pm some evenings. Football and Volleyball are the first set of sports for this school year. Football tryouts will be the first and first tryout date is Monday, October 5 th after school. Volleyball tryouts will be held two weeks later and the first tryout date is Monday, October 19 th after school. Physicals must be done before your child can try out. Physicals can either be completed by your own doctor or at the Riverdale High Health Center for free if you register your child for the Health Center. This Registration packet and Physical form can be found on the Jefferson Elementary School’s website under Programs then click on Athletics. These forms can be filled out and submitted online. Once again, this must be done before your child can tryout!
