Industrial Pump Program A total of 6 series of hp-Industrial pumps and hp-Special pumps are available.An internal gear rotor drives an eccentric, externally toothed gear. The rotor and the toothed wheel are sealed with a fixed crescent. Internal gear pumps have been in use for more than 40 years and are used in many areas of industry because of their favorable construction and design.

Material:

Pump castings are made of hydraulic cast iron GG 25 (for UHE GGG 40); rotor is of C 60; pinion is of 16 Mn Cr 5; axial face seal of cast iron /coal; up to 150 ° C viton.

Advantages:

Self-priming, self-lubricating, practically non-pulsating, quiet-running, practically maintenance-free, pressure proof and vacuum-tight shaft seals.

hp-Pump accessories All hp pumps are equipped with axial face seals made of viton which can resist pressures of up to 5 bar and with stand temperatures of up to 150 ° C.

The axial face seals are relieved of pressure on the suction side of the pump. See graph for maximum pressure load of the axial face seal, i.e. of the suction side in dependance with the temperature.

All hp-SMG motor pump groups can be refitted in our plant with a kit

Until now mechanical seals had to be replaced in regular intervals or due to a defect untimely. The lifecycle costs were one significant factor in case of buying a pump. These times are all over now! Our hp-MaG-DrivE is 100% free of leakage. Maintenance or repairs of the usual mechanical seal will definitely be a thing of the past.

The non-contact transmission of rotation assures additional safety by a non-destructive mechanical isolation in case of overcharge or blockades. As soon as the motor has been switched off, the magnetic field will be synchronized so that pump can be restarted again.

The implementation of permanent magnets out of a special alloy of samarium and cobalt guarantees a stable magnetic field within a wide range of temperature as well as a longperiod of time.

All hp-motor pump groups of the SMG-series will be available with our hp-MaG-DrivE or can be refitted in our plant with a kit within a short period of time. The connecting dimensions of the usual SMG will not change.

Beside all the named advantages the environmental protection takes the center stage in our development work. MONARCHMicro Tolerance Development for Domestic Oil Burners and Heating Units

I. Concept

The MTD-92 nozzle was developed by MONARCH specifically to meet the needs of the European market. Indeed, in a number of countries, new laws have been issued to protect the air and the environment, thus forcing the manufacturers to develop better performing but less and less polluting burners. It has been widely recognized that the nozzle is a crucial element to achieve this, as it controls the atomization and oil flow rate which are essential factors for a clean and efficient combustion.

The dimensions and characteristics of the threaded parts of nozzles have been fixed by CEN standard regulations; the new MTD-92 MONARCH nozzle conforms to those regulations and related tolerances.

The tolerances for the dimensions above hold for all nozzles up to and including 3.50 USGPH. They can be slightly different for higher capacities.

The body and swirl disc are made of a high chrome grade stainless steel (416 SS), specially selected for its high heat resistance.

The locknut is nickel plated to avoid all risk of even a partial obstruction by metal particles.

The nozzle body and orifice are made of a one piece construction. Although expensive, this procedure guarantees against possible leakage or heat expansion related problems.

II. Operating85% of MONARCH staff are involved in the overall production process. 33% of those employed in the production are fully qualified nozzle testers. This commitment is an eloquent and exemplary demonstration of MONARCH‘s concern for manufacturing perfection and highest possible quality; it has been individual testing of each nozzle that has built our Company’s reputation.

Each MTD-92 is individually spray tested by MONARCH for spray angle, quality and balance. All tests are made at 10 bar pressure.

The nominal flow stamped on the nozzle is rated at 100 PSI = 6.895 bar. Flow tolerances have been reduced in conformity with the European norms CEN. The MTD-92 nozzles have a nominal flow tolerance of +/-4% for all flows up to, and including 3.50 USGPH. Tolerances can differ slightly for higher capacities.

III TechnologyMONARCH has installed new test rigs equipped with digital flow measuring devices, to insure the utmost precision in the work of our experts monitoring the individual production of MTD-92 nozzles.

New digital control machines have been developed for manufacturing MTD-92 nozzles. This new generation of CNC automatic machines provides our customers with a necessary guarantee of a perfect uniformity of each part we make. It is a means of controlling the strict accuracy of the flow and spray angles, as well as homogeneity and consistency of spray patterns. In addition to the modern equipment, the micro-finish and monitoring procedures, applied by MONARCH exclusively, assure consistent production.

MONARCH has recently developed a Computer Laser System to monitor quality and homogeneity of spray patterns and angles. This laser controlled measuring device is computer-guided to provide high precision monitoring of nozzle tests. When tested, the nozzle is analyzed by the Laser System; the results are simultaneously computer-processed and compared with Master Reference Nozzles. This method enables MONARCH to assure uniformity and consistency of nozzle production as compared to the reference samples.

ATTENTION: Considering the high precision level, demonstrated by flow tolerances, and the extremely high precaution measures in manufacturing, we strongly advise you not to disassemble the MTD-92 nozzle; the original precision will not be recovered. The problem posed is that of a maximum filtration guarantee. This is why MONARCH has chosen to use porous bronze filters with a straining capacity of 40 to 60 microns or 200 mesh (approx. 70 microns) strainers, for capacities up to and including 1.00 USGPH.

Each MONARCH MTD-92 nozzle isindividually tested at several different production stages to assure perfect conformitywith master nozzles of each series.

The spray patterns (i.e. hollowcone or solid cone) described below refer to the tests carried out with a 60° angle at a75 mm distance from the nozzle orifice. In nozzles of a 60° spray angle or less, and forlow flows in particular, the empty section of a hollow cone becomes smaller. Thedifference between hollow cone and solid cone practically disappears.

SolidCone “R” Series: .40 to 3.50 USGPH

This is the series supplied regularly unless customer specifies otherwise. Itis a good all-round nozzle suitable for most burners. Atomization of the oil is not quiteas fine as with the “NS” series.

HollowCons “NS” Series: .50 to 2.00 USGPH

This Series works best on many burners due to its exceptionally fineatomization. Produces a quiet stable flame. Widely used in 80° and 90° on flameretention burners.

SpecialSolid Cone “AR” Series: .50 to 3.50 USGPH

This series has become widely used due to its success in obtaining quietcombustion in some flame retention head burners. Traditionally a “cure-all”replacement nozzle, it now is increasingly specified on original equipment.

Semi-SolidCone “PLP” Series: 2.25 to 100.00 USGPH

1.10 USGPH to 10.50 USGPH nozzles are fitted as standard with 120 mesh/approx. 120 microns Monel screen strainers. Strainers may be used with larger sizes to a maximum of 30.00 USGPH but must be ordered separately.Nozzles up to and including 1.00 USGPH are also available with 200 mesh Monel screen strainers as an alternative to the recommended porous bronze filter.

CAPACITY SIZES

Available in sizes from .40 to 100.00 USGPH at 100 PSI (6.895 bar) on No. 2 fuel oil. Field tests may show more or less flow than the nominal rating as the flow varies with the viscosity (the higher the viscosity, the greater the nozzle flow and vice versa). When using No. 2 fuel oil within normal operating temperature range, the flow changes approximately 1% for each SSU change in viscosity.

OPERATING PRESSURES AND VISCOSITIES

The MONARCH MTD-92 nozzles are tested at nominal pressures of 7 to 10 bar, with test oil, similar to No. 2 fuel oil, 34 to 36 SSU viscosity at 100° F, gravity 32 to 38 A.P.I. at 60° F and test temperature 75 to 80° F (3.36 to 3.44 mm2/s at 20°C, and a density of 0.840). The recommended operating pressures for MTD-92 nozzles used with the domestic fuel oil and kerosene are from e to 25 bar. (Please consult us for higher pressures).For higher viscosity fluids, possible operating pressures range from 10 to 14 bar. This, however, will result in a considerable reduction of spray angles, unless specially designed nozzles are used (see MTD-HO nozzles).

MTD-HO NOZZLES FOR LIGHT, MEDIUM AND HEAVY FUEL OIL

This is a specially designed version of the MTD-92 nozzle, particularly suitable for domestic and heavy fuel combustion with a higher viscosity level up to 0.5 est. Two versions are offered with same dimensions and thread as MTD-92.

The “HO” is offered to meet the requirements for nozzles to be used on higher viscosity oils at elevated operating pressures. These nozzles (as with all MONARCH MTD-92 nozzles) are stamped with their nominal flow rate at 100 PSIG (6.895 bar) on No. 2 fuel oil and are available in capacity sizes from 1.00 through 100.00 USGPH.

HO-200 PSI (14 bar)

When regular light oil nozzles are used on more viscous oil, their sprays tend to “flutter”, they produce a narrower spray angle and often develop streaks in the spray. Accordingly, the standard “HO”. nozzles are specially tested for spray quality and rated for spray angle at a pressure of 200 PSIG (14 bar) on 70 SSU (13 Centistoke) operating viscosity oil. This special testing assures that the nozzles will perform properly under heavy oil operating conditions. BPS By-Passing Nozzles The BPS nozzles produce variable orifice flow rates by by-passing fluid from the nozzle swirl chamber. The orifice flow is regulated by controlling the by-pass line pressure.

The nozzle tip and disc are made of the same heat resisting, high chrome grade of stainless steel used in our simplex or regular domestic oil burner nozzles. The combination locknut-strainer support is made of brass with a Monel strainer screen and a Teflon seal (Viton “O” rings are special order). Nozzle adaptors (bodies) and fittings are made of brass. Nozzles in all sizes are furnished only with strainers, 120 mesh Monel up to and including 13.50 GPH and 80 mesh on larger sizes.

The BPS nozzles are designed and tested for operation at 100 psi. on No. 2 fuel oil, with the capacity and spray angle stamped on the nozzles at these conditions. Both the capacity and spray angle rating are based on having the by-pass line closed. Spray angle widens 5°-10° with the by-pass line open.

The chart shows the orifice flow rates at specific by-pass line pressures and also the maximum pressure in the by-pass line when the by-pass is closed.

The BPS nozzles can be supplied with spray angles as follows: 30° in capacities from 3.00 GPH up to and including 30.00 GPH; 45° in capacities from .75 GPH up to and including 35.00 GPH; 60° in all listed capacities, 80° in capacities from 1.50 GPH up to and including 35.00 GPH, and 90° from 10.50 GPH up to and including 24.00 GPH.

It is possible to operate standard BPS nozzles up to 250 psi. line pressure, and at this pressure they will handle up to 70 S.S.U. operating viscosity oil. The BPS nozzles can be specially tested for operation at line pressure of 300 psi. or more at additional cost.

The C-169-WA and C-170-WA nozzles are widely used on Industrial Burners using up to 21 psi air pressure for atomization, and oil pressure at least 2 psi higher (depending on oil flow rate desired). Excellent firing results can be obtained when these nozzles are used in combination with high velocity combustion air through properly designed Air Mixing Equipment to give the flame a rapid whirling motion. Air and oil are fed into a common swirl chamber through separate openings to properly proportion the two, resulting in the oil being discharged in exceptionally fine spray ready for burning. E-180-H Variable Flow Nozzles

The E-180-H  Nozzles is large Industrial Nozzles in which the orifice flow is varied by by-passing or “bleeding” liquid from the Nozzle swirl chamber while the line pressure to the Nozzle remains constant. Capacity is varied between maximum and minimum by controlling the by-pass line pressure, and excellent firing results are obtained with turn-down ratios of 3 to 4 to 1. The capacity and spray angle ratings are based on operating at 300 PSIG line pressure on 100 SSU operating viscosity oil with the by-pass line closed. Spray angles available are 40°, 50°, 60° and 80° and it should be noted that spray angles increase from 5° to 10° when the by-pass line is wide open. These Nozzles may be used on No. 2 fuel oil, but capacities and spray angles will be approximately 10% less than on 100 SSU oil. Oil of 100 SSU operating viscosity is typically obtained by preheating U.S. No.6 fuel oil to 175°F to 265°F with a norm of about 240°F. Accompanying charts show flow through the orifice when the bypass pressures are at various points from open to closed. Note that the total flow to the Nozzle (when the by-pass line is wide open) can be almost 50% greater than the nominal capacity of the Nozzle and this must be taken into account when sizing pumps. Pressure-flow curves can be supplied for any specific capacity size, on request. Nozzles are made of cold rolled steel, with tips and discs case hardened and individually lapped together as mated sets. Complete E-180-H Nozzles have a net weight of approximately 18-1/2 ounces. Cone SprayNozzles whose spray is emitted in a conical shape and a round cross section. Cone sprays have less impact than flat sprays and are therefore better suited for rinsing and wetting.

Solid Cone Spray NozzlesCone Spray Nozzles in which the cross section distribution shows little or no droplets in the center and with most of the spray concentrated at the outer edge.

Hollow Cone Spray NozzlesCone Spray Nozzles in which the cross section distribution shows little or no droplets in the center and with most of the spray concentrated at the outer edge.

Flat SpraysAlso known as fan sprays, these Nozzles produce either a tiat or elliptical sheet of water. They are best suited for washing operations where high Impact Is desirable. The spray normally breaks into individual droplets a few Inches from the orifice.

Atomizing NozzlesProduce a highly atomized hollow cone spray. Their light mist ranges from a fog that hangs in the air to slightly larger droplets that fall by gravity. They are most typically used for humldification and very light wetting.

Jet NozzlesProduce a straight unbroken stream of water nominally referred to as a 0° spray angle. Depending on the piping set up, onfice size and water pressure, the stream may remain unbroken from a few Inches up to 3 or 4 feet. For blasting and light cutting applications.

Spray AngleThe included angle of the spray emitted from the Nozzle orifice. This excludes the light “fuzz” at the edge of some sprays, particularly those of low flow rates. Higher operating pressures usually tend to compress the spray, thereby resulting in a nar rower spray angle. Liquids with surface tensions lower than water will produce wider spray angles than those of water. See chart on page 16 for coverage data.

Nozzle openingThe aperture through which the liquid exits the Nozzle. It measures the liquid and its contours produce the various spray angles. It Is normally round but can be elliptical In the case of flat spray Nozzles. On most Nozzles the orifice is a highly polished surface. It should never be probed with any metal object. A wooden toothpick is the best tool for cleaning or unclogglng an orifice.

PressureThe force with which the liquid einfliet in the nozzle, in PSI (pounds per square foot: 1PSI = 0.6848 N / cm). Generally produces more favorable to operate at pressures

Minimum operating pressurelowest possible The pressure at which the kinetic energy of the liquid is sufficient to produce a fully developed jet. Data flow in the nozzle tables indicate that value for water. He can be HHer or lower if other fluids are used as water because it depends on the specific weight and Viscosity the liquid.

NPTNational Pipe Thread (American standard pipe thread). This is a tapering thread that participates in the installation of self-tightening. A thread seal as “pipe dope or Teflon tape is needed in order to seal properly.

Spray AtomizationA Spray Nozzle breaks up a flow of liquid into many small droplets. The efficiency, or results, of the spray process greatly depend on droplet size and distribution. Droplet size may range from a few to thousands of microns in diameter depending upon the liquid being sprayed, the pressure and Nozzle design. Nozzles do not generate droplets of equal size. There is usually a broad spectrum of droplet sizes within a spray. Larger droplets occur as nozzle capacity increases. Coarse atomization is often associated with narrow angles or straight streams. For a given nozzle, fineness of atomization may be improved by increasing pressure.

The two important liquid parameters affecting atomization are viscosity and surface tension. Compared with viscosity, surface tension has a relatively minor affect.

Spray VelocityThe velocity of the spray leaving a Nozzle orifice depends upon the liquid pressure. The velocity is also determined by the design characteristics of the specific Nozzle. Solid stream and flat spray Nozzles will have, under equal conditions, higher velocities than wide angle, round cone Nozzles.

GPHGallons per hour (gallons per hour: 1 gallon = 3.7853 l). This size unit is always based on water flow. See the table for a given nozzle to determine the pressure of her flow.

GPMGallons per minute (gallons per minute). The unit size for nozzles with a larger flow rate, based on water flow. See the table for a given nozzle to determine the pressure of her flow.

CFMCubic feet per minute (cubic foot per minute). A measure of the volume of gas (usually air) describes the spray. Spray nozzle operated in an air nozzle

629/631 Swirl Chamber Nozzle The absence of internal vanes makes the 629 and 631 Nozzles practically clog free. Any foreign particles which can pass through the large tangential feed or “lead” hole will easily exit out the orifice. F-80 Atomizing Nozzle

The F-80 Hollow Cone Nozzles produce the finest possible breakup with direct pressure operation. No air or steam is required as the atomizing medium. While higher pressures produce finer droplet sizes, these Nozzles will operate satisfactory on water at pressures of 40 PSI or more. These nozzles are equipped with a 9/16″ – 24″ machine thread for mounting in either single or multiple adaptors.

This Nozzle is the same general construction as the H-261 Nozzle. This version includes a “Center Jet” through the middle of the swirler which produces a Solid Cone Spray and somewhat coarser atomization. It has proven extremely successful in commercial dish washers.

The H-530 is a simple Nozzle which is a variation of the nonclog principle. Nozzle consists of two parts, the Body which contains the inlet pipe connection and the orifice; and a Cap which forms the bottom of the Swirl Chamber. The solid cone spray is uniformly distributed over the entire area of coverage. H-601 Air Operated Atomization Nozzle The H-601 Nozzle is air or steam operated and produces an extremely fine, fog-like atomization. This aspirating Nozzle requires no liquid pressure whatever as the air pressure creates a suction in the liquid inlet which draws the liquid into the Nozzle. If air is readily available you can, therefore, eliminate the expense of a liquid pump. Increasing the lift distance decreases the flow rate. Due to the absence of small internal openings, this Nozzle can produce very low flow rates without risk of clogging. The H-601 has an unrestricted orifice of 5/64″ diameter. The H-601-C to H-601-G have, in addition, an internal disc with metering slots to produce extremely low flow rates but the openings are relatively low flow rates but the openings are H-601 Water Nozzlesrelatively large in comparison to these flow rates.
