SECONDARY SCHOOLSHALF YEARLY EXAMINATIONS 2016/2017
FORM: 4 ART and DESIGN Time: Extended
INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS
The examination will consist of three sections
Section A: Work from Observation (40 marks)
Section B: Imaginative Picture Making (40 marks)
Section C: Presentation of a Portfolio of Work ( 20 marks)
Read the questions carefully
You are expected that your work goes through the process of Investigation, Documentation, Experimentation and Realization.
Preliminary studies are required to answer both Section A and Section B. Failure to present sketches will lose you marks.
Section A – Compulsory
Section B – Answer one question
The question in Section B may be interpreted in any one of the following forms:
Painting in colour
Drawing in colour
Print making
Textiles
Collage
Three Dimensional Work
Any reference material from primary and secondary sources may be used, but mere copying Is unacceptable.
SECTION A: Drawing or Painting from Observation
A selection of four objects from the list below is arranged before you
Cloth cereal box hammer
Large book clock ladle
Potted plant pot fruit
Wine bottle watering can rolling pin
Produce a painting or drawing of the group before you. Make sketches to understand the organization of light and shadow, forms, colours and textures.
SECTION B: Composition from a Theme
The students are asked to consider the following as a starting point. Choose only one theme and develop it into a final work.
Your work is expected to be the result of a creative process.
