MANIFESTATION OF HIS KINGDOM:UNDERSTANDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

For the earnest expectation of the creatures waits for the manifestation of the sons of God. Romans 8:19

According to the Westminster Dictionary of Christian Spirituality, manifestation is an event which becomes a way of life in which often charismatic manifestation have a place. It is the public demonstration of power and purpose, the display of something theoretical or proof of the reality of something.

Both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament the term “kingdom” is understood as dynamic in nature and refers primarily to the rule or reign of a king. The Greek term for kingdom is used 162 times in the New Testament, with most of them referring to the Kingdom of God. The kingdom of God, also called the Kingdom of Heaven is the spiritual realm over which God reigns as King or the fulfillment on Earth of God’s will. It is generally considered to be the central theme of Jesus Christ.

From the biblical perspective, God’s kingdom can be seen as God’s universal reign as Creator and Christ’s extensive work as Redeemer. Jesus laid the foundation for the enduring presence of his kingdom in the Church – the Body of Christ. This kingdom is spiritual and not a political or geographical realm and its final fulfillment will be realized in eternity.

Manifesting the kingdom of God is the mission given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospels tell us that Jesus went around all Galilee proclaiming the good news of the kingdom (Matthew 4:23). John the Baptist also announced this kingdom to the people of his time saying, “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news (Mark 1:15). Jesus confirmed that the Kingdom is within you (Luke 17:21). The book of the Acts of the Apostles tells us that Jesus at His glorious ascension commissioned the apostles to reveal

the kingdom to the world. “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the

earth” (Acts 1:8). That same mission is being committed to our hands today.

As a church and individuals, this year we are being commissioned to manifest the kingdom of God where ever me found ourselves for our citizenship is in heaven. Genuine love must be practice; we must be devoted to the word of God and being prayerful. We must labour in the vineyard so that when our Lord comes back as the king of the kingdom, we shall reign with him. For us to manifest the kingdom of God, the following three decisions must be made in our daily activities as declared by Phophet. Micah 7:7.

A life of faith- we must demonstrate great faith in the Lord in all things. Heb. 11:6

A life of patience: We must learn to walk with God. God is never in hurry. Hab.2:3, Psalm. 27:14.

A life of confidence: We must demonstrate absolute confidence in God. 1John 5:14-15, Heb.10:35.

As we go in the journey of this year, God will empower you and use you to manifest his kingdom in Jesus name. Amen.
