Duang Prateep Foundation Monthly Newsletter for December 2019 A Leading Organization for Underprivileged Children and the Poor US Marines Land in Klong Toey On December 18, a troop of United States marines, led by Sgt. Michael Dou, and embassy staff landed at the Duang Prateep Kindergarten to wish the children a Merry Christmas. Cries of “ooh” and “aah” erupted from the kids as they caught sight of the large boxes of gifts the visitors were carrying when they made their entrance. Filled with excitement, the children then treated the Americans to rousing renditions of a Thai pop song and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” (in English). There were more than enough toys and gifts so that no child missed out; and those left over were donated for DPF’s Children’s Day celebrations next month. Finally, it was time for lunch and the visitors quickly joined in serving the children their lunch.

On 23 December, 20 staff members of VFS Global led by Mr. Sachin Verma (Country Manager - Thailand & Laos) visited the DPF Kindergarten to provide lunch, ice-cream and educational materials for the students. Khru Prateep and the teachers were delighted to welcome them. And the young children showed their appreciation with two dance performances, which the visitors were happy to join in. Christmas Eve JoyOn 24 December, the DPF Kindergarten organized a Christmas Party for the children which was supported by Willies Orphan Fund. Mr. Willie Gregg and his fundraising charity in Northern Ireland have been long-term friends and supporters of the DPF. The children enjoyed gifts and delicious food, snacks and drinks in a Christmas atmosphere. Thank you very much to Khun Willie and his generous donors. We wish you all a happy and healthy new year throughout 2020.
