KINDERGARTEN TABATHA HUTSON currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Special Education and a Master’s of Science Degree in Curriculum Theory and Practice from the University of Arkansas. She and her little boy, Hunter, moved to Knoxville from Georgia in 2009. She enjoys hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains, reading and quilting in her spare time. RENEE HALBERT has her degree in Biblical Education from Columbia International University.  She enjoys spending time with her husband Andy and her family. They have three sons, Andrew, Alex, and Aaron, and one daughter-in-law, Rachel. She also enjoys reading and traveling.

AMY RAINWATER  graduated from Western Washington University with a B.A. in Education.  She enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, son, Kyle and daughter, Emily.  She also enjoys scrapbooking and watching the Lady Vols.

SECOND GRADE

AJA GRIMES is a graduate of Samford University with Bachelor of Science in Elementary, Early Childhood and Special Education. Mrs. Grimes is licensed to teach in grades PreK-6 and is certified in Special Education for PK- 12th. Mrs. Grimes taught third grade in Rome, Georgia before coming to teach first and second grade at CCS in 2007. She has been involved in choir, praise team, children’s ministry and drama. Her latest adventure is learning to be a new mom to her son born in June of 2013.

THIRD GRADE

KRISTEN GALLOWAY  is a graduate of The University of Tennessee. She holds a Master of  Sciences in Teacher Education and is licensed by the State of Tennessee. Ms. Galloway did her student teaching at Lenoir City Elementary in first grade. She is very active in her church and has participated in both domestic and international missions. Ms. Galloway was also a member of the UT Lady Vols Rowing Team for four years. Ms. Galloway’s enthusiasm and creativity will make her an excellent addition to our third grade team. 

KAREN LITTLETON is a graduate of the Tennessee Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  Mrs. Littleton earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kentucky with emphasis in Reading.

MISSE MEE is a graduate of Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky, with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. She is licensed to teach pre-k -3rd grades. Mrs. Mee was the After School Care Director here at FBC from 1993 - 1996.

FOURTH GRADE

JENNIFER ALFORD received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee.  She’s been teaching for several years in the East Tennessee area.  Mrs. Alford and her husband, Garland, have three grown children and four young foster children.  She and her family enjoy serving in Nicaragua through Partners in Christ. She enjoys gardening, reading, flying and boating with her family.

HAYLEY MILLER is a graduate of Johnson University with a degree in Elementary Education. She did her student teaching at CCS and filled two interim positions in the fourth grade as well. Ms. Miller was impressive in the classroom and has a great rapport with students and their families.

FIFTH GRADE

JIM AKINS  graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Social Studies Education. He has also earned a M.S. in Administration and Supervision and an Ed.S in Elementary Guidance from Tennessee Tech.  Mr. Akins and his wife, Sally, have two children and two grandchildren.  He enjoys antiquing, computers, and raising flowers in his spare time.

DEBRA PEDDICORD  is a Career Level Three Teacher with 30+ years of experience teaching in public schools. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Lee University and a Master’s of Art Degree from Tennessee Technological University.  Mrs. Peddicord is married to Steve and has two grown sons.   She enjoys reading and scrapbooking.

FARIS DODSON  MS Math

Mrs. Dodson graduated from Carson Newman College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and went on to earn a Master of Science in Education/Curriculum from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Mrs. Dodson feels rewarded to be able teach in a Christian environment where she can openly share her faith.

LAURA ROSE MS Science

Mrs. Rose is a graduate of Ashland University in Ashland Ohio with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She also earned a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee Technological University. She is married to Damon and they have 2 children. In her free time she loves to travel, read, cross stitch, and play water sports.

MEG NELSON MS/HS Bible and Speech

Mrs. Nelson graduated from Criswell College in Dallas, Texas with a B.A. in Bible. She also is a graduate, with a Master of Divinity, from Southwestern Theological Baptist Seminary. After spending nearly a decade on the mission field she, her husband, and her three children, returned to America to mobilize the US church to become more involved in missions around the world. Mrs. Nelson is thrilled to share her knowledge and experience with the students at CCS.

ERNIE BUSSELL MS/HS History

Mr. Bussell received his BA in History from Valdosta State University and his Master’s in Education from University of Tennessee. His certifications include Secondary History/ Government and Geography. Mr. Bussell is a proud former member of the United States Navy. He was a missile technician stationed at King’s Bay Naval Submarine Base. He is married to Jessica and they have a son, Elijah. Mr. Bussell enjoys coin collecting, carpentry and sports.

JOHN VANDENHURK, MS Bible

Mr. VandenHurk, originally from Holland, graduated from Florida Bible College with a degree in Biblical Education, and a degree in photojournalism from Defense Information School.  He worked as an Air Force photojournalist, stationed at Offutt AFB, Neb., and worked several years as a writer and copy editor for newspapers in Nebraska, Florida and Tennessee.  He has taught at Christian schools for 21 years, 13 of which have been at CCS.   Mr. VandenHurk and his wife, Kay, have four children and three grandchildren. He enjoys hiking, jogging, camping and traveling.

TAMMY LIGHTHOLDER, MS/HS English

Ms. Lightholder has a B.A. from Westminster College in Speech/Broadcasting and Religion.  Her work began in the production of a live daily Christian television show in Pittsburgh. Ms. Lightholder then felt a calling to work with young people and is now the 8th grade and High School English Teacher.

SONYA WRIGHT  MS/HS Spanish

Mrs. Wright earned her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with teaching fields in Business and Home Economics from Hyles-Anderson College. Mrs. Wright was a missionary kid who learned Spanish in Mexico. She and her husband, Pete, served for eleven years as missionaries with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism in Santiago, Chile.  Mrs. Wright and her husband have one daughter, who is a student at CCS. Mrs. Wright loves music and has been singing since she was a little girl. She is involved with the Worship Ministry at her church.

ASHLEY HUGHEY HS Math

Mrs. Hughey received a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee.

MISSY HAROLD MS History

Mrs. Harold is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University. She holds a B.S. degree in Multidisciplinary Studies - Several Subjects and is licensed by the State of Tennessee and Georgia. Mrs. Harold taught in the Georgia Public School system before coming to CCS. She is married to Casey Harold and they have three sons, Caleb, Jacob, and Jesse.

DANA STRONG MS Language

Mrs. Strong has a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Tennessee. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Language Arts. Mrs. Strong is certified to teach grades 1-8. Mrs. Strong enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 daughters. She teaches Sunday School and is involved with her church.

Gina Flynn is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. Mrs. Flynn worked at Pellissippi State Community College before coming to CCS. She has four children and in her spare time enjoys running and camping.

DOUG SAGER HS Bible/History Elective

LINDA REEDY Academic Dean and HS Language Arts/Art History

Ms. Linda Reedy has a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Newburgh Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Bob Jones University.  She is beginning her 8th year at Concord Christian School and her 23nd year in Christian education.  While Ms. Reedy serves as Academic Dean, she enjoys being in the classroom when classes are available.  She has also coached many sports with volleyball being her main focus.  Ms. Reedy is currently an ACSI regional commissioner and consults and leads accreditation visits each year.  Ms. Reedy enjoys travel and has been all over the world serving on short-term mission’s opportunities and leading student groups.

JOANNIE HAM HS Science

Dr. Ham earned her B.A. in Anthropology from the Pennsylvania State University, and her M.S. and PhD. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Illinois. She and her husband, Michael, have 3 daughters. Dr. Ham has many interests and is always looking to explore new things – places, food, music, blogs, campsites, books, crafts, and of course, scientific pursuits. She believes that “All Christians should be interested in science, since the whole earth is full of His glory and discovering the creation means learning more about God.”

JESSICA CONLEY Spanish K-5th

Mrs. Conley is a graduate of Cedarville University in Ohio with a B.A. in Multi-Age Spanish Education. Mrs. Conley has studied abroad in Spanish and has a heart for missions. Her hope is that her students will one day be able to use the Spanish that they have learned in order to bring others to Christ. Mrs. Conley is married and enjoys tennis, piano, reading, knitting, cooking and her women’s small group.

SHERILYN DAWSON   Computer

Ms. Dawson has earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Lambuth University and a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Tennessee.  She has two children, David and Elizabeth.  She enjoys camping and fishing in her spare time. 

MICHELE DONNELLY  Media Specialist

Mrs. Donnelly received a B.A. from Denison University in Granville, Ohio.  She has her Master’s in Library and Information Science from UT. Michele and her husband, Jim, have two daughters, Hannah and Katherine.

BECKY FRASER  Art

Mrs. Fraser is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and a minor in Art History. Mrs. Fraser was a corporate trainer for First Union National Bank before coming to teach at CCS. She and her husband Gary have two children, Brooke and Zac.

JAMIE HENSLEY  Music Teacher K - 3rd

Ms. Hensley “believes music and creative worship are unique and fun ways for children to learn both academic and spiritual concepts.” She has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K-8th) from Carson Newman College and teacher certification from UT Knoxville. She has taught Music and Drama at Crossroads Christian Academy, Kindergarten at Bearden Elementary and 2nd grade at Tate School of Discovery.  Ms. Hensley has also been a part of several church worship teams to include Two Rivers Church and West Lake.

MATT STEPHENS MS/HS Band

Matthew is a graduate of Carson-Newman University with his Bachelor’s of Music in Instrumental Music Education. Mr. Stephens also studied composition and jazz performance in his time at Carson-Newman. Along with teaching 5th-12th band Mr. Stephens also teaches Music History and conducts rehearsals with the Pride of the Den Pep Band. He has served as field technician and music teacher at several Knox County high schools including Karns High School, Hardin Valley Academy, South Doyle High School and Christian Academy of Knoxville. Matthew is the principal bass trombonist and serves as Assistant Conductor for the Oak Ridge Community Orchestra. He is excited to see the Fine Arts Department grow here at CCS with ensembles in the works including jazz band and the Pride of the Den Marching Band in the coming years! This is an exciting time for Fine Arts here at CCS!

STEVE ARNOLD Introduction to Entrepreneurship

Mr. Arnold teaches Introduction to Entrepreneurship as an elective to our high school students.Currently, Mr. Arnold serves as founder, advisor and compliance officer at Storehouse Advisory Group.His experience and expertise in financial planning, formulating marketing strategies, and networking will be an asset in the classroom. Mr. Arnold graduated from Tusculum College with a B.S of Science in Management.
